Ready for Halloween?

Hello Friends!  Are you ready for Halloween yet?  I know its a ways off but now is the time to start making those crafty things you love for Halloween so you don't have to rush when it gets here!  LOL  I am usually a last-minute kind of gal but thought I would make a couple of Halloween cards for my two college girls so I can mail them a goodie box soon.

I used kraft cardstock for the base of both of these cards.  The patterned paper is from the Gear Head Collection by The Paper Loft LC.  I really love how versatile these papers are!  The images are from some Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps.  Super easy to make and I got just alittle inky from sponging the distress edges!

Such A Blessing Card!

Hello Friends!  Sorry I haven't been posting much this week.  I had a busy week.  Our washer was on the fritz but my hubby and I fixed it (with no yelling or swear words, either)!  Plus I had a bunch of produce from our garden to can and put away.  Now I finally get a few minutes to myself.....no wait that was a joke....more stuff to do this weekend!  LOL

But I do have a couple of cards to share with you.  For my first card, I used some papers from In The Zone Collection from  The Paper Loft LC, stamps from Our Daily Bread Designs and my Silhouette Cameo to create the elements on this card.

 Here is a card I created using The Paper Loft's The Great Outdoor Collection!

 

The only cardstock I used on this card is the Kraft cardstock base!  All other papers I used, including the papers to create my flowers, are from The Great Outdoor Collection.  I thought this color palette was perfect for some bright yellow flowers! There is a list of the supplies I used for this card at the bottom of this post!  Here is a close-up.......

Sunflowers & A Sunshine Smile!

Hello Friends!  Hope you are having a great week so far!  Here at our house its kinda quiet with only one daughter at home now but the back to school routine is starting to get easier!  LOL  I hate getting up at 5am!  

Back in the Spring, my hubby plant a whole section of our back yard with nothing but sunflowers.  To say they were very beautiful is an understatement.   Before they started to fade, I got my youngest daughter to poise for a few pictures.  Here is a layout I created using papers from the Great Outdoors Collection by  The Paper Loft LC,  plus stamps and svg files from JustRite Paper crafts.

Can't you tell she is a teenager?  She wasn't real happy with me about having to pose for these pictures but being able to wear her new first day of school outfit helped alittle!  LOL  

So the sunflowers are a Stitched Sunflowers Vintage Labels Eight Clear Stamps from JustRite Papercrafts.  Along with the stamps you can purchase the matching SVG files for your Silhouette (or other digital cutter).   So what I did first was to cut out these flowers and leaves using some smooth ivory cardstock (good for coloring with copics) and then I stamped the sunflower and leaf images.  My friend, Heidi Blankenship, did a video on how easy this is.....check it out HERE.  It's definitely not hard to match up the cut files with the stamps.  After coloring the stamps with copic markers, I added the gold glitter to the middle of the flowers.

I used my Silhouette to cut out the words and ran those thru my Xyron for the adhesive.  I added some pearl flourishes to bling it up alittle more.   If you are a friend of mine on facebook, you know that 2 days a week I watch my 5 yr old great nephew.....I showed him this layout and he said "where is her name?"  I had to laugh.....so I got out my Dymo Label Maker and added Cassie's name.  Jackson thought the label maker was pretty cool!  LOL

Cleaning Up My Desk!

Hello Friends!  Today I have a couple of cards for you that were made from the scraps that were all over my desk.  I have to admit that after I create my desk is a disaster.  Most times I clean up right away but lately I have just left the mess and walked away.  The other day when I saw my desk, I didn't quite know what to do with all that stuff.  I got to organizing the scraps and other stuff and realized I should make a couple of cards with the leftovers!  So here they are.....

 

For this card, I used scraps from the Truly Scrumptious Collection by The Paper Loft.   On each strip of patterned paper, I used the corner rounder punch.  The flowers are some left overs I had created from another project.  I used the Majestic Blooms die (Heartfelt Creations) to create those flowers and inked them up with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.  The pearls were leftovers from a sheet of Want2Scrap that matches a Nestabilities shape.  The stamp is from Stampin' Up! that I have had for awhile.  

 

This card uses the same patterned paper from the Truly Scrumptious collection.  I stamped the flowers using Strawberry Slush ink and stamp sets from Stampin' Up!  Again these were products I had purchased awhile back but haven't used.  I put some Crystal Stickles inside each flower and popped them up with some foam squares.  To finish, I added some pink seam binding (Really Reasonable Ribbon).

Father's Day is Coming!

Hello friends!  Hope you are having a fun summer so far.  Around my house, we have just been busy.  Almost too busy for creating but I have carved out a bit of time to make a few quick and easy cards using some new collections from The Paper Loft LC.  I really love the all the new fun colors and patterns that these new collections have!  

Can you believe that this weekend is Father's Day?  I know it kinda snuck up on me, too.  The girls and I decided that  we are telling my hubby he can go buy a new gas-powered weed eater.  He has been talking about buying one for a long time but just hasn't done it.  Plus I would never try to pick out a man's power tools!!  LOL

Here is a quick and easy card I created using the On The Go Collection from The Paper Loft.

New Papers in the House!

Hello friends!  About a week ago, I got this big box full of new papers from The Paper Loft LC!  I have been just dieing to sit down and start creating with these new papers.   The colors of  these new collections are really awesome!  There are 4 new collections and I think they are awesome.  Did you know that all The Paper Loft papers are made in the USA?  Pretty neat, right?  Today I used the On The Go Collection to create a layout of my daughter talking on the phone!  LOL

For this layout, I used this month's sketch that is up over at The Paper Loft Blog HERE.  Each month there is a sketch challenge posted.  All you have to do is create a project using The Paper Loft papers and this sketch, link it up on the blog and you could be a Guest Designer!!  That means free papers, people!

I used a 4 x 6" picture of my daughter talking on the phone!  This was right before she left to go to her Senior Prom but I thought the picture turned out great!  I used the color of her phone as a starting point for my layout.  The papers in the On The Go collection are actually alittle more masculine and about vacation but I thought they went perfect with this picture, don't you?

I used some Petaloo flowers and the Wonderful Wings die (spellbinders) to add some girly embellishments.  I also used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the words.  The papers hold up really well to cut in the Silhouette or a manual die-cutter - just take your pick!

Encouragement Cards and Power Poppy!

Hello Friends!  Today I have a couple of cards to share with you.  These cards are encouragement cards.  Sometimes you have a friend or a loved one going thru hard times and receiving a special card will just make them smile.  Well the other day I had a chance to sit down and create a few things.  I actually decided that if I was making 1 card then I could just make 2!  LOL  So here are my two cards!

These are pretty simple cards!  I cut a piece of 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock at 4 1/4" then scored across at 5 1/2".  That created the base of my card.  I used some scraps from The Paper Loft's Shades of Gray papers to create the banners.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Good Thinking: Renewal clear stamp set by Power Poppy and used Labels 11 to cut/emboss.  You can see that I cut the sentiment two different ways.  I used some bling from my stash along the bottom and some pretty ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon to complete my cards!

I don't know why I got out of the habit of making two cards at a time.  I used to do it all the time!  It really helps keep the card supplies replenished for when the family needs a card for something!

Down for 3 Days? Sorry about that!!

Hello Friends!  If you are reading this, then thanks for coming back to my blog after it has been down for 3-4 days while Typepad fought off some nasty Hackers.  I have been blogging with Typepad since 2006 and my blog has never been down for more than an hour until this week!  I do think that is a really good record but boy, its hard to be patient especially when you aren't really a techy kinda person and don't understand what a DDOS attack is!  LOL

Well, now that I am back up and running, I have a card to share with you today using The Paper Loft's Shades of Gray papers and the sketch for this month.  If you haven't ever checked out The Paper Loft Blog, check it out and see how you can become a Guest Designer.  All you have to do is participate in the Monthly Sketch Challenge. 

 

This square cards measures 5 1/4 x 5 1/4".  I used black cardstock for the base.  I used different patterns available in the Shades of Gray collection.  Plus I used my new banner punch that I got during Sale-A-Bration from Stampin' Up!   The sentiment is from a new company called Power Poppy.  This stamp set is called Good Thinking: Renewal Stamp set.  I really love the unique sentiments in the set.    Here is another view of my card!

An Island Sun Valentine!

So are you ready for Valentine's day to be over because you are tired of the colors red and pink?  Well, I'm not but I do get tired of always seeing those colors used for the holiday.  So I sat down with some of my new Paper Loft collections and made a Valentine's Day card using NO pink or red!

  The sketch used is for this month over at The Paper Loft blog.  You can make a project using this sketch HERE.  To participate in this month's challenge - Make a project (card, scrap layout or any project that works with the sketch) using the provided sketch and upload it to your blog or online gallery. Leave a link to your project using the link widget at the bottom of the post. The Paper Loft products are not required to participate, but the winner will be chosen from a participant that uses The Paper Loft products somewhere on their project.

 To make my card, I used a piece of Whipped Cream Pop Tone cardstock cut to 5 1/4 x 10 1/2".  Scored it at 5 1/4" to fold it and then added all my goodies.  The papers are from the Island Sun Collection - Coral Bay, Emerald Cove and Beach Blanket papers.  The hearts were cut/embossed using Classic Hearts and Lace Hearts (Spellbinders).  I made cut some little flowers using the Bitty Blossoms dies and added little pearls in the middle of them.  To finish the card, I added the champagne seam binding (Really Reasonable Ribbon) and pearl stick pins (Maya Road).

 

I think this is a pretty card that one of my daughters will love.  Now today is only Wednesday so you do have time to get a card ready for that special someone in your life!  You can make them a card even if you don't have the "valentine" colors!  LOL  Better get busy!!
