What Did You Make?

Yesterday was World Cardmaking Day!  Did you get to participate in some of the challenges that were happening all over the internet?  Or maybe you walked into your craft room to make something and almost screamed out loud because your desk was so messy?  I actually did both!  

First I had to straighten up my desk and re-arrange my ribbon drawer.  I tell you that I did actually scream out loud but not to loud because I didn't want to scare my family.  I will show you what my ribbon drawer looked like AFTER I cleaned it.......

 

After making my ribbon look all pretty, I got some of my Classic Sunflower Paper Collection from Heartfelt Creations and got busy making some cards!  Here is what I started with......

 

This isn't something I purchase very often but I was lucky enough to find this packet of 8 - 5x7" Kraft cards with matching envelopes in the clearance aisle on one of my shopping trips to Hobby Lobby.   To save myself some time, I used these as the base for all of my cards.  Here they are!

I used the Classic Sunflower Paper Collection from Heartfelt Creations, various stamps from Our Daily Bread, JustRite Paper Crafts and Stampin' Up! Plus a bunch of ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon (which is what is in that very organized drawer!),a bottle of Diamond Stickles and Rich Cocoa Memento Ink pad.  I had alot of fun and I think my mom will enjoy sending them to her friends.  I would love to see what you made for World Cardmaking Day....so leave me a link and I will check it out!

Sunflowers & A Sunshine Smile!

Hello Friends!  Hope you are having a great week so far!  Here at our house its kinda quiet with only one daughter at home now but the back to school routine is starting to get easier!  LOL  I hate getting up at 5am!  

Back in the Spring, my hubby plant a whole section of our back yard with nothing but sunflowers.  To say they were very beautiful is an understatement.   Before they started to fade, I got my youngest daughter to poise for a few pictures.  Here is a layout I created using papers from the Great Outdoors Collection by  The Paper Loft LC,  plus stamps and svg files from JustRite Paper crafts.

Can't you tell she is a teenager?  She wasn't real happy with me about having to pose for these pictures but being able to wear her new first day of school outfit helped alittle!  LOL  

So the sunflowers are a Stitched Sunflowers Vintage Labels Eight Clear Stamps from JustRite Papercrafts.  Along with the stamps you can purchase the matching SVG files for your Silhouette (or other digital cutter).   So what I did first was to cut out these flowers and leaves using some smooth ivory cardstock (good for coloring with copics) and then I stamped the sunflower and leaf images.  My friend, Heidi Blankenship, did a video on how easy this is.....check it out HERE.  It's definitely not hard to match up the cut files with the stamps.  After coloring the stamps with copic markers, I added the gold glitter to the middle of the flowers.

I used my Silhouette to cut out the words and ran those thru my Xyron for the adhesive.  I added some pearl flourishes to bling it up alittle more.   If you are a friend of mine on facebook, you know that 2 days a week I watch my 5 yr old great nephew.....I showed him this layout and he said "where is her name?"  I had to laugh.....so I got out my Dymo Label Maker and added Cassie's name.  Jackson thought the label maker was pretty cool!  LOL

Hello JustRite© Papercrafts Fans!   Today is my last day to be a guest designer and I just wanted to take a minute to thank Kellie and Angela for having me!  I have had so much fun.  Today I want to share with you a quick and easy project that I am making for all my homemade Christmas presents this year.  It has become a tradition that our family gives a handmade gifts to favorite teachers, church friends, the mailman, etc…  This year we are making Brownie Mix in a Jar for everyone.  Since we will be giving so many of these gifts, I wanted to decorate them quick and easy.

Making the tag to hang from the jar is quick and easy….don’t worry!  Here is how I made the tag…..

Stamp the jar image from Baking Antique Tags One twice.  Once on white cardstock and another time onto grey cardstock.  I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the images.

Fussy cut just the grey lid off the jar image.  Color the jar image with a Copic marker (if you want…totally up to you!).

Stamp the tag image and the sentiment inside using black ink.  Using the cooresponding die from Antique Tags One die set, die cut the smaller tag.  In the picture, I used a piece of repositionable tape to hold the die in place while cutting.

Fussy cut the jar image and glue the grey lid into place.  Also attach the sentiment tag.  Punch a hold in the tag so that you can use some cute colored twine to tie it to your jar.

Here is what my jar looks like!  I think this will make great presents this year.  We usually make at least 20 of these type of presents so I better get busy!

I found the recipe for this brownie mix in a jar on Pinterest.  I have to say that I haven’t actually baked the brownies yet and would really like to taste them before I recommend the recipe.  I will be posting on my blog next week about my recipe results!  Do you have a good recipe for brownies in a jar?  If so, please share!

Guest Designer for JustRite© Papercrafts Day 2

Hello JustRite© Papercrafts Fans!  It’s my second day to post and I have something completely different to show you!  A very special friend of mine has a birthday next week, so I sat down with my favorite JustRite© Papercrafts stamps and die templates and made her a card!

To make this A2-sized card, I cut a piece of Kraft cardstock to 4 ¼ x 11”.  I scored it at 5 ½” and folded it in half to create the base of the card.  To create the layers, I cut a slightly smaller piece of red cardstock then added the cute love birds paper.  I actually made the blue dotted paper into a pocket to insert my tags, adding the scalloped red strip and some sewing to create the pocket.  I added the twine around the pocket top and adhered this to the base.  To create the tags, I cut/embossed the smallest die in the Vintage Labels Five die template set out of various papers.  I stamped the left one with the “Smile” sentiment (Black-Eyed Susan Vintage Labels Five set), the middle one wasn’t stamped but I added a cute little sticker and the right one was stamped with “True Friend” sentiment (Antique Valentine Tags One set).  I added the white seam binding and twine to the top of each tag.  To anchor them into place, I used a 3d foam square.  Here is the inside of my card…..

I really love using my JustRite Stamps because I can always find just the right sentiment that I need for every situation I need a card!

Hello JustRite© Papercrafts Fans!   I am so excited and honored to be guest designing for such a wonderful company for the next couple of days!  Today I would like to share with you a project I made for my family’s Thanksgiving table.  Every Thanksgiving, my mom is the hostess but I get the honor of designing the Thanksgiving table.  This year I fell in love with the Black-Eyed Susan Vintage Labels Five stamp set and the matching Vintage Labels Five die template.  Here is my table setting.  I made a cute little box holding extra napkings, a napkin ring and a goodie bag to take home after our wonderful day of thanksgiving!

To create this place setting, I stamped the black-eyed susan stamp onto white cardstock using Rich Cocoa Memento ink and used Copic Markers to color it.  I did this 4 times for my 3 projects

After coloring the image, I fussy cut them out and used some Crystal Stickles on them to give them shine and set them aside to dry.  Now its time to make the little napkin holder using the Vintage Labels Five die template.  I cut/embossed 2 of the largest from the die set out of chocolate brown cardstock.  Then I cut a strip of the same cardstock to 2 ½ x 11”.  Then I scored the strip at 4” & 7” across the short side and at ½” along the long edges.  Then I cut from the edge to the score line at the 4” & 7” score marks plus prefolded all the edges to form the box.

Then I added the scor-tape to the bottom of the Vintage Labels Five die cuts.

Here is what your box should look like at this point!

Now add some Scor-tape or liquid adhesive to the rounded edges of the die cut and assemble your box.

After putting my box together, I decorated it with the black-eyed susans and added the So Thankful sentiment from Good Friends Labels Twenty-Nine set.  I also created a napkin ring and treat bag.  Everyone needs a treat bag full of chocolate kisses to take home, don’t you agree?    Hope this project inspires you to make something special for your Thanksgiving table!
