Beautiful Poppies Card!

Hello friends!  Hope you are having a fantastic week!  So far so good here at our house!  This weekend is Graduation for some of my daughter's friends.  Today I had a few minutes to create something just for this occasion!

Yes I dusted off my Copic Markers.  It has been so long since I colored anything that the markers did actually have dust on them!  LOL  I stamped the Inked Poppy image using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto some Simply Smooth Ivory cardstock.  After I colored the image, I cut/embossed using Labels Twenty Three from Spellbinders® Paper Arts.   I used some new patterned paper from KaiserCraft called Remember Me.  It's full of poppies and lovely colors!  The red seam binding ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I stamped the sentiment - Take Time To Dream - at the bottom of the card using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  This card measures 5 1/4 x 5 1/4" square from Kraft cardstock.

I think any one would love the get this card, don't you?  This past weekend, I demo'd Spellbinders Paper Arts at the Michael's in South County.  I had so much fun showing all the wonderful things you can cut/emboss and stencil to all the customers!  Be sure to check out the new Spellbinders On The Road blog to see if someone is coming to your local Michael's!! A Special Mother's Day Card

Hello Friends!  Hope you are having a great week!  Sorry I haven't posted much lately I have been so busy with my girls.  Two weeks ago we went to Nashville with the band for the Heritage Music Festival.  Then this past weekend, we went on our first college visit with my middle daughter.  We visited Truman State University in Kirksville, MO.  I can't believe that Caitlyn is old enough to start her college search.  She will be a Senior next year.  I should be used to this because my oldest daughter is already in college but I am finding it alittle hard to let go this time!  

Last night I had time to sit down and make a card.  I used stamps from The Rubber Cafe' and some of my new embellishments I showed you in the video I did a couple of weeks ago.  Here is my card.

 

The base of this card is made from Kraft cardstock.  I stamped the 18th Century Proclamation using Versamark ink onto the base.  Then using liquid adhesive I attached the doily to the card.  I cut/embossed Pink Lemonade Pop-Tones cardstock using S4-136 Classic Hearts # 4 (remember #1 is the smallest).  After stamping the heart with the same background stamp, I added the MOM from Give Momma Some Love set.  The flower was made using S5-050 Rose Creations, S5-086 Bitty Blossom dies plus Whip Cream Pop-Tones.  I shaped a few layers of Rose Creation dies then added the Bitty Blossom in the middle.  To finish everything off I added some rose seam binding.

Since I won't be mailing this the big flower isn't a problem.  But if you are thinking of making a similar card, I would go with a flower that is low profile.  I think anyone would love this card, don't you?  Hope you have a great day!

Beautiful One Sheet Bag

Hey Everyone!  Hope you are having a great week!  Things are going pretty good for me.  The weather is finally acting like it's spring with 70 degree weather and beautiful sunshine!  I just love it.  April is one of my favorite months.  All the trees are budding, new flowers are blooming and it's my wedding anniversary.  On April 27, 1991, I married my high school sweetheart!  With anniversary and weddings on my mind, I made this bag using new The Rubber Cafe' stamps and some beautiful Mountain Rose Metallic cardstock from Discount Cardstock.

 

To make this bag, all you need is one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" and a scoring tool.  My scoring tool of choice is the Scor-Pal.  I have had one since the beginning and even got the new one when it came out.  It has alot more markings!  So here is how you make this bag......

Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and then score at.....

Now it is time to make the little diagonal folds.....from the fold line measure two inches and make a small mark...

You will need to do that on all four sides.  The middle will look like this when you are done!

 

Now you will need to prefold those diagonal folds, too.  It should look like this when done.  Sorry it's blurry....

Now apply some Scor-tape like this.......

Then you will apply Scor-Tape like this on the diagonal folds and adhere them down.

So I hope these pictures show you how to make this bag.  It isn't really that hard but its really hard to explain in words!  So that is why I am hoping that pictures work for everyone.  If you have questions, let me know!

A Musical Thank You Card!

So today is Friday and that means I am going to the CK Convention in Collinsville, IL.  I am so excited!  There will be tons of shopping and other goodies to look at plus I get a whole day away from home spending it with a special friend!  Yeah Me!!  I will share what I purchased later this weekend!  Maybe I should do a haul video!  Have you seen those on YouTube.  That might be alot of fun!

I had some fun with a new patterned paper pad I got the other day.  I just love the Lyric Collection from Prima.  I ordered an A4 size paper pad.  That means its 8 1/2 x 11" of patterned paper.  I have never tried that size before so I thought I would give it a shot.  Here is a quick and simple card I made using some Lyric Papers.

This card measures 5 x 7".  The base of the card is made from Kraft cardstock.  I cut a piece of Whip Cream Pop-Tones slightly smaller then my base and cut/embossed the bottom using A2 Scallop Borders One die.  I did the same to the pink patterned paper except after I cut/embossed the scalloped detail, I also embossed it using the Music M-Bossabilities.  After adhering those two layers together, I tied some seam binding around them and into a bow.  I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of cardstock and hand-cut it into a banner.  I used some glue dots to adhere the sentiment and the brad onto the bow.  I hand-cut the banner from the Prima patterned paper to complete this card.  I think it turned out super, don't you?

Happy Easter!

Yes it is time to think about making some Easter cards.  I know, it kinda snuck up on me, too!  But I sat down at my crafty table and made an Easter card that was alot of fun.  I didn't use the normal ducky, chicks or eggs either.

 

 

I got a new 6x6 paper pad the other day and just loved the colors.  Its BoBunny's Praire Chic and I think the colors are great!.  The first thing I did was cut/emboss the fence using the On The Fence Die template.  Then I stamped the butterflies using Salty Ocean and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks.  After stamping, I covered the whole butterfly with Versamark ink and heat embossed using some sparkly embossing powder. I mixed it up myself!  I mixed together some clear embossing powder with some You're So Fine Diamond Clear Cool Highlight Glitter.  After it cooled off, I fussy cut them out.  I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then cut/embossed it using Ribbon Banners.  Here are a few close-ups.

 

To finish up my card, I added some seam binding and a cute button I found in my stash!  It's not your traditional Easter card but I love the colors!  Hope you have a great day!

Butterfly Spread Your Wings Card!

I have a card to share with you today using one of my favorite stamps from The Rubber Cafe' called Small Trailing Butterflies.  I also used another new favorite from Spellbinders Card Creator Line - 5x7 Matting Basics A & B.  For those of you who like to make a larger card, these are absolutely perfect for layering.  Here is my card!

For the base of my card, I used Posh Milk Chocolate Felt cardstock cut to 7 x 10".  Then I scored at 5" and then folded it.  I stamped a layer of Whipped Cream Pop-tones (its not white but its not cream either - another new fav!)  with the Words of Inspiration Background Stamp using Desert Sand Memento Ink pad.  Then I cut/embossed this layer using the S6-001 5x7 Matting Basics A #7.  Then I sponged the edges with the same ink, too!  I cut/embossed the peach layer using the S6-002 5x7 Matting Basics B #6.  The butterfly panel was cut/embossed using 5x7 Matting Basics B #5.  Then I stamped the Small Trailing Butterflies using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.  Then I did a bunch of fussy cutting and stamping!  Here is a close-up.

I stamped the butterflies twice....once on the peach cardstock using Desert Sand Memento Ink and then onto some text weight vellum using Timber Brown Staz-on.  I cut the butterflies out....like this...

When adhering the vellum butterflies, I just used some liquid adhesive down the center.  Then after they dried, I bent the wings up for a fun effect!

I stamped the sentiment panel with the Words of Inspiration background in the lighter brown and then stamped the Spread Your Wings Sentiment using Rich Cocoa Memento ink.  I added a strip of chocolate cardstock and some Shimmer Gold Twine to complete the card!  Hope I gave you a new idea on how to use that pack of vellum you have in your stash!  LOL  Have a great day!

A TRC Valentine's Day Gift Bag!

Hello Everyone!  Hope you are having a good day.  Are you ready for Valentine's day?  I'm not really completely ready but I did have a chance to make a few things today - one of the projects I am sharing with you today.  Here is a Valetine's Day Gift bag I made using The Rubber Cafe' stamps.

I have shown you all how to cover a gift bag a bunch of times so I will skip that part.  But I will show you how I made the tissue paper flower!

First, I used half a piece of white tissue paper.  This is tissue paper that I bought at the $1 store so it's not anything special.  I stamped all over this using the Trailing Hearts stamp (The Rubber Cafe') and Rhubarb Stalk Memento Ink pad.

Then I folded the tissue paper so that it was alittle bigger than the die template - S4-370 Blossom Five - #4 (remember #1 is the smallest).  I had at least 10 layers of tissue paper after folding.  Here is what it looked like before I die cut.

Here is what my tissue paper looked like after cutting and its still in the die template.

Now fold all these layers in half and then fold in half again so that you can punch a small hole in the middle for a brad that will hold all the layers together.  Like this......

Now insert your brad.....it doesn't have to be a pretty brad because it will probably not show once you fluff up your layers.

Now pull each layer toward the center and kind give it a scrunch.  Then once you have each layer in the middle, it should look kinda like this.

Rock A Bye Baby!

Here is a card I made the other day using some new releases from Spellbinders™ Paper Arts.  I don't know about you but I have a ton of those little 6x6 or 8x8 paper pads that just keep multiplying.  While looking thru this big pile, I found Graphic45's Little Darlings 8x8 paper pad and just knew this would make a great card.

For this card, I used a picture from the paper pad as my focal point.  I just hand cut the picture and layered it onto a S5-156 Labels Twenty Nine (die #4).  I punched a little slot on one side so there was a place for my ribbon to thread thru.  Along the bottom of my layers, I cut/embossed using Card Creator S5-182 A2 Scalloped Borders One.  There are six borders in the set so you have lots of combos to mix and match.  I am currently working on a video to show how to use these new borders and hope to have it ready by Monday!

Valentine's Paper Bag Brag Card

Hey everyone!  Sorry its been awhile since I blogged.  I think I might finally be getting back into the swing of my "regular" routine.  My two youngest daughter's are back to school but my oldest doesn't go back to college for a few more days.  It's been nice having her home and I have been spending time with her instead of crafting.  

So the other day I was looking around Pinterest and found this interesting looking paper bag album.  I clicked on the link and it took me to a YouTube video showing how to split a paper lunch sack and make a mini-album.  Its a really cool idea and you can see the video HERE.  I decided that I didn't want to make such a big album.  I thought the idea of making a small brag book/card for my mom was alittle more do-able for me.  So here is what I came up with... I posted this project and a couple other pictures on The Rubber Cafe' Blog the other day. 

I decided I wanted to make another of these for a sweet friend of mine who is going thru a rough time.  I tweaked this idea just alittle more and came up with this.

For this project, I used some smaller paper bags from Michael's Celebration Line of stuff.  These bags are smaller than the regular lunch sacks.  The first thing I did was to cut/emboss the open edge with Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Classic Decorative Insert Four Edgeabilities.  Once that was done, then you cut open the bag down each side just to where the bag starts to make a triangle for the bottom.....clear as mud?   This is what it should look like.

Here is what the bag looks like flat and opened up.

Now turn the bag over and this is what it will look like.

Glue those flaps down so everything looks alittle more tidy.  I didn't do that on my first bag book and it really does look alittle nicer.

Now you can cover the front of the bag with some cardstock.  For my front panel, I used the Edgeabilities to match the bag.

Open the bag  and put some strong adhesive along those flaps but DON'T glue the flaps down to anything.  You are going to adhere some cardstock to the flaps and create a pocket.  

I cut a piece of Pink Lemonaide Pop-Tones cardstock to fit slightly smaller and then I cut/embossed using the Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Classic Decorative Inserts Edgeabilities and then took the tape liner off and adhered into place.

Here is what the pocket looks like.  

Now its time to decorate the bag.  On the front, I used the smallest rose in the Rose Garden Stamp set (The Rubber Cafe').  I wanted my roses to be sparkly, so after stamping them, I applied some Emboss Gloss (Clearsnap) and sprinkled on some Iridescent Embossing Powder.  After I heat set the embossing powder, I cut them out.

Here is a close-up of a rose and the MB2-006 Hearts Two Bezel I used.  For the bezel, I put a bunch of little pearls inside and poured my ICE Resin then I added the little seed pearls.  Now this had to sit and cure overnight.

This was a very fun project to make.  I love working with ICE Resin.  I use the 1 oz. Syringe because then you don't have to measure.  You just push out how much you need into a little plastic cup and you can put a cap on the syringe until you want to use it again.

Halloween Boo Banner!

Hello everyone!  Hope you are having a great week so far!  Are you ready for Halloween?  Do you have all your decorations up and ready for your party?  If not, here is a project I made using just cardstock and Spellbinders™ Paper Arts die templates that you might want to try.

To make this Halloween banner you will need the following supplies:

• Posh Black Satin Sparkle 105#, Cosmic Orange 65#, Simply Smooth Ivory Cardstock 
• 4" Doilies - Wilton (bought at Wal-mart)
• S4-330 Nested Tombstone Die templates #4 & 5 (with #1 being the smallest)
• S4-333 Spider Web Die template
• Tulle Ribbon - bought at Hobby Lobby
• Double-Sided Black Satin 5/8" ribbon - Really Reasonable Ribbon
• Large eyelets, pearl bling
• Scrap Happy Sheer Glue - The Rubber Cafe'

First, I used the computer and my printer to print out the letters needed for this.  I printed each letter on one sheet of the ivory paper and cut/embossed them using the #4 Nested Tombstone die.  I trimmed the embossed edge off these so that I could layer them onto the orange die cuts.  Cut/emboss the largest die from the Nested Tombstone using the black cardstock three times.  Cut/emboss the #4 die out of the orange cardstock three times.  Cut/emboss the spider and web from black cardstock at least three times.  Now its time to put everything together.

See how I layered everything together?  The bottom layer is the large black tombstone.  Then I layered the white doilie and adhered the spider web into place. I used glue dots to add the spiders.

This will look great hanging in my living room, don't you think?  This was alot of fun to make and I hope you will give it a try!
