Round Two Mystery Destash Boxes!

Hello friends! It's time for another round of Mystery Die Destash Boxes.  The last destash went very well and I sold out pretty quickly.  So I decided I would do some more.  Now I know so many of you have a large stash of dies in your craft rooms so I will list the dies in each box and then the extra goodies will be the mystery part. The boxes are filled with crafty goodies--new and gently used.  Every box will include 4 or 5 Spellbinders die sets along with a variety of other crafty goodies that might include--glitters, stamps, ribbons/trims, or embellishments and embossing folders.

A Fun Mixed Media Project!

Hello friends!  I have a fun mixed media project to share with you today.  I used some of the new mixed media dies from Crafter's Companion to create this home decor project.  I also made a video to show you just how easy it was to make!

A Fun Gatefold Card!

Hello friends!  Today I have a fun tutorial to share with you.  A Gatefold card is not a card I usually make but I just couldn't help myself when I received this beautiful ribbon threading die from Crafter's Companion.  The new Die’sire Classiques line of ribbon threading dies are a unique and beautiful way to decorate your cards.  There are many ways you can use them.  Besides the obvious, here is another way to use the Olivia die as a belly band around a beautiful gatefold card.  Here is how you create it…..

Cut a piece of cardstock to 5 ½ x 8 ½.  Using the Ultimate Tool, score along the top and bottom using the Gatefold ½ sheet (US) mark, as shown here…

                                                                                                                                              

Fold both sides of the cardstock into the middle to create the gatefold.

Now it’s time to create the belly band to slip over the card to keep it closed.  Cut a strip of cardstock to 1 ¼” x 11”.  Using a piece of repositionable tape, position the die into place.

Run this thru the Gemini die cutting machine.  Here is what this strip will look like after it’s die cut.  The Olivia die measures  7 ¾” long so there will be some of the cardstock strip that is not die cut.  You will have to run the die thru again.

Remove the die from the strip and position the top of the die at the bottom of the die cut.

Die cut this final portion and remove the cardstock from the die.  Then it is time to thread the ribbon thru the die cut and wrap it around the gatefold card.  I like to make my belly band just a bit bigger than the card so that it’s easy to slip on and off.

Then decorate the belly band so that it’s easy to remove.  I used some 3d foam squares on the heart to adhere it onto the belly band.  Then create the flowers and adhere them into place as shown.  Add the sentiment, which was stamped and cut from white cardstock, to complete the belly and.

This line of ribbon threading dies are extremely versatile and easy to use.  I hope that you will give this gatefold card with matching belly band a try!

A Beautiful Rose Wall Hanging!

Hello friends!  It's Wednesday and you know what that means!  It's time for a Heartfelt Creations project.  This week the design team is featuring chipboard made by Creative Embellishments.  I really love chipboard and was so excited to get some beautiful pieces from this great company!  Here is my project for today......

Instructions: Finished project measures 8" x 8". To begin project, spritz a piece of 8" x 8" corrugated board with water and peel off top layer. Add white gesso to the corners of the cardboard using fingers or sponge and allow to dry. Cut a piece of patterned paper from the Blushing Rose collection to 7" x 7". Spritz different spots on the patterned paper with water and pull the paper back. Adhere lace to these pulled back spots so that the lace peaks through. Adhere this paper to the corrugated board using Aleene’s Tacky glue. Cut pieces of the 6" x 6" Mini Quatrefoil Panel Chipboard as shown and sponge with white gesso. Set these pieces aside to dry. Apply some tacky glue in places and add Silver Gilding flakes. Allow this to dry completely and then brush away excess using a soft brush.

Stamp the Blushing Rose Background Stamp onto white cardstock using brown ink. Use the banners die to die cut the Beautiful sentiment and sponge around the edges with light blue ink.

Stamp the leaves from the Blushing Rose Stem cling stamp set twice onto green cardstock using green ink. Stamp the Open Rose Swirl stamp from the Blushing Rose Swirls set onto green cardstock using green ink. Use the matching dies to die cut all of these leaves. Stamp the Classic Rose images onto purple cardstock using purple ink. Stamp the Classic Rose images onto white cardstock using memento ink. Use the matching dies to die cut the flowers. Use the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit to shape all of these flowers. (Hint – You will have extra flowers left over after stamping and die cutting, be sure to save these flowers in a baggie or basket for another project later!)

Cut the post card image from the Blushing Rose Patterned paper collection. Adhere the chipboard into place and adhere the post card into place as shown.

Assemble the project as shown adding pearl seed beads inside the quatrefoil patterns.

Let's Give Thanks!

Hello Friends!  Today I would like to share with you a Thanksgiving card I created.  My mom always hosts Thanksgiving.  She makes our Thanksgiving dinner very special from setting the table “just right” to sending out special invitations.  Can you see where I am going with this?  LOL  Yep, that means that I am always in charge of our special Thanksgiving invitations.  So today, I decided it was time to sit down and start designing them.  I wanted to keep them simple but elegant so I used the 1415E Eastern Oyster Layering Basics Die set from Tonic to help me.    Here is my invitation…..

Don't you just love this stamp?  It's 5108H Stack O'Pumpkins from Pink Ink Stamp Company.  I stamped the image onto some mixed media paper using Jet Black Staz-on.  Then using the new ColourBlend Pencils from Crafter's Companion, I colored the image.  I really love to take the time to color, ya know?  It's is very relaxing!  Colored pencils work great for the images from Pink Ink Stamp Company because they are so detailed.  You can just sharpen that pencil and get into those tiny places!!

To begin, I cut the base cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11.  I scored it at 5 1/2″ and then folded the brown cardstock.  I then cut the green cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4″.  The patterned paper layer was cut to 3 3/4 x 5″.  Then I stamped and colored the cute pumpkin image.  Using the 1415e Eastern Oyster Layering Basics Die set, I die cut the image and die cut a piece of patterned paper that is slightly larger.  The increments in size for this set are really nice!  The largest die in the set is 3 3/4  x 5 1/2″ so the dies are the perfect size for card making.  Here is a closer look at the image.  Can you see the 757N Golden Sunset Glitter Drops that I added to the berries?  That just added the right touch!

 

To complete the card, I printed the sentiment onto white cardstock using my computer.  Then I positioned the die into place using some repositional tape and ran it thru the Tangerine die cutting machine.  I used a slot punch on the right-hand side of the main panel to punch a place for my ribbon.  I really like using this technique on my cards because it gives me plenty of space to add a bow.

A Lavender Rose and Tag Card

Hello friends!  It's time for a Heartfelt Creations Wednesday project.  I really love all shades of purple.  I remember a time, when I was about 12 or 13 years old, that I wanted to paint my bedroom purple.  I just didn't understand why my mom wouldn't let me!  LOL  Now I get to create anything I want using purple but I especially love the Blushing Rose collection shades of purple.  Today I created a card using panels from the Blushing Rose Collection papers and some Classic Rose Flowers.

Instructions: Finished card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Create base of card from purple cardstock. Cut patterned paper panel from Blushing Rose paper collection. Cut white panel slightly larger than panel and adhere together. Die cut a ornate border from white cardstock. Adhere into place. Stamp flowers onto white cardstock using toffee ink. Stamp vines onto green patterned paper using green ink. Die cut the vines and flowers. Use the deluxe flower shaping kit to shape the leaves and flowers. Die cut the tag and sentiment tag from collection using the matching dies. Assemble the card together as shown using 3d foam squares for the tags.

Instructions: Finished card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Create the base of the card from Kraft cardstock. Cut a piece of blue cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4". Cut a piece of the patterned paper to 3 3/4" x 5". Stamp the Blushing Rose Background stamp twice onto white cardstock using brown ink. Using the Blushing Rose Swirls banner die, die cut the “beautiful” banner from the second background and also hand cut the tail that is underneath the banner.

Stamp the leaves from the Blushing Rose Stems set onto green cardstock using green ink and die cut with the matching die. Stamp the smaller roses from the Classic Rose set and die cut. Shape the flowers and leaves using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit. Adhere one set of the leaves into place on the left hand side and then add the “beautiful” banner and the tail over some of the leaves using 3d foam squares. Add flowers and a flower bud as shown. Cut one of the leaves to fit in the top right hand corner and glue into place as shown. Add more flowers as shown to complete the card.

Shiny Gold Stocking Card

Hello friends!  I will be announcing the blog candy winner tomorrow.  It's been a long and busy weekend here at my house.  One of the fun things I did was to meet up with Peggy Jo Ackley.  She is the owner and illustrator of Pink Ink Stamps!  Peggy was in town to teach coloring classes at the Checkered Cottage in Kirkwood MO.  Before Peggy left for her next teaching stop, we met up at The Blue Owl restaurant in Kimmswick MO and had lunch together.  It was fantastic!  As a bonus, Peggy brought me her newest coloring book....

If you aren't familiar with Peggy Jo Ackley's work, you can check all of her coloring books and calendars on Amazon, Barnes & Noble plus you can see them at Michael's stores.  Of course, my favorite illustrations of Peggy's are the beautiful and detailed Pink Ink Stamps.  Today I have a Christmas card to share with you using one of these beautiful images.  Recently, I have started to create my Christmas cards.  These are cards that are relatively flat and fairly easy to make in an assembly-line style.  Here is one of the cards I created.....

This card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2".  I decided to stick with a gold metallic theme for the card so I got out my gold embossing powder and heat tool.  To start, I inked up the 6111K Felt Stocking stamp with some VersaMark embossing ink.  Then I sprinkled it with Nuvo  Classic Gold embossing powder.  This is my new favorite embossing powder because it is just so shiny!  I also stamped the 10136A Merry Christmas Oval sentiment and heat embossed it also. After I heat embossed the sentiment, I cut it out like a banner and tied some gold cording at one end to make it look a bit like a tag.  After putting everything together, I think it turned out really nice.  This would be an easy card to do assembly-line style.  I made 6 in less than 30 minutes!  The beautiful papers I used are from My Mind's Eye called Christmas on Market Street Collection.  This collection has beautiful gold highlighted patterned papers and gold striped vellum.  I love it!
