Hello Friends! Hope you had a great weekend. Around my house we are gearing up for back to school. That means I will have 2 daughters away at college and sometimes that makes me happy and sad at the same time. My project for the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #13 Let's Cycle....Upcycle that is, will help me smile on those days when I am missing my girls!
First, here is some info about this challenge.
Challenge #13 Let's Cycle...Up-Cycle That Is!
Being frugal and going green is what it's all about. Show us how you can up-cycle something using "junk" from your hoard. Most craft hoarders also hoard boxes, tins, packaging, and bits of this and that. Our mantra is, "I can MAKE something with that!" Now is your chance! Up-cycle!
Our sponsors this month are Canvas Corp. and Altered Pages. Click on this link to find out more about these two great companies!
Here is my project for this challenge. I have had this frame sitting on my crafty desk for awhile and I decided it needed some help!
So this is what the frame looked like before I started. Now remember this was a $dollar store frame.
To start, I lightly sanded this and then painted it with white gesso. After it dried, I applied a fairly thick coating of Tattered Rose Distress Crackle Paint and let it dry. While it dried, I made some pretty flowers using the Majestic Blooms die (Heartfelt Creations) and the Once Upon a Time paper collection from Heartfelt Creations. Then I used Tattered Angels Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist and Tattered Angels Platinum High Impact Mixed Media Paint! That paint is really cool! Here are some close-ups!
I really had alot of fun upcycling my plain jane frame! It will look so nice on my crafty desk plus I can see my beautiful girls when I am missing them!
Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to check out all the other Craft Hoarders Anonymous DTs projects! They are really awesome!!
I love how totally "you" this altered frame is! Those flowers are stunning!

This turned out beautifully! Love the soft pinks and that crackled finish! So much prettier than the stark, black. Your flowers are lovely, all shimmery and with pearly centers! Lovely family to finish off your upcycle! From stash to treasure!!
