Under the Weather?

Hello Friends!  Today I have a quick and easy card to share with you using the April Creative Kit of the Month - Spring is in the Air.  The reason I say this is quick and easy is because I am using a paper piecing technique instead of coloring.  If you are not wanting to color your images because it takes longer, paper piecing can really be cute and saves alot of time!  Here is my card!

The base of this card is A2 size - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2".  I cut a piece of 8 1/2 x 11" at the 4 1/4" mark along the top of the cardstock and folded it at 5 1/2".  Then I cut a layer of white cardstock at 4 x 5 1/4".  The patterned paper ( included in kit) was cut at 3 3/4 x 5" and layered onto the white cardstock.  I added a strip of the blue rain drop patterned paper, which was cut at 2 x 4".  I cut/embossed an Elegant Ovals die using the same cardstock as the base.  I stamped the boots and umbrella image using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink onto the white cardstock then cut/embossed this using Standard Ovals Lg.  I stamped the umbrella and boots images onto the different patterned paper and cut them out and pieced them onto my die cut.  Here is a closer look.

I stamped the sentiment onto a small scrap of white cardstock and trimmed it to fit along the bottom of the card.  To complete everything I added some 3d foam squares under the ovals and adhered this to the card.  Then added the blue bubbles into the 4 corners and on the top of the umbrella.  I really love this card and think it would cheer up anyone feeling under the weather!

Down for 3 Days? Sorry about that!!

Hello Friends!  If you are reading this, then thanks for coming back to my blog after it has been down for 3-4 days while Typepad fought off some nasty Hackers.  I have been blogging with Typepad since 2006 and my blog has never been down for more than an hour until this week!  I do think that is a really good record but boy, its hard to be patient especially when you aren't really a techy kinda person and don't understand what a DDOS attack is!  LOL

Well, now that I am back up and running, I have a card to share with you today using The Paper Loft's Shades of Gray papers and the sketch for this month.  If you haven't ever checked out The Paper Loft Blog, check it out and see how you can become a Guest Designer.  All you have to do is participate in the Monthly Sketch Challenge. 

 

This square cards measures 5 1/4 x 5 1/4".  I used black cardstock for the base.  I used different patterns available in the Shades of Gray collection.  Plus I used my new banner punch that I got during Sale-A-Bration from Stampin' Up!   The sentiment is from a new company called Power Poppy.  This stamp set is called Good Thinking: Renewal Stamp set.  I really love the unique sentiments in the set.    Here is another view of my card!

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #6

Here is my project for this fun challenge!  I went very clean and simple with this sketch!

For this card, I used some new to me patterned papers, stamp and punch.  My old items on this card are the dies, rhinestones and ribbon.  This was a super fun card to make and it was easy, too!  See the bottom of this post for specific supplies used in this card!

Easter Card In A Box!

Hello The Rubber Cafe' Fans!  Hope your day is going great!  Are you ready for Easter?  Well, I am getting there but haven't quite finished all the little crafts I like to make for my Easter Brunch table.  Here is one idea I came up with after seeing all those Card In A Box cards everywhere on the internet. Don't worry you don't need anything special to make this Card In A Box....well you do need a scoring tool and your April Creative Cafe' Kit of The Month - Spring Is In The Air !  Here is my fun Easter Card In A Box.

For the base of this card, you will need the green cardstock cut to 8 1/2" x 6".  Then you will need to score this piece along the long side at 1/2", 2 1/2", 4 1/2" and 6 1/2".

Now turn your cardstock 90 degrees and score at 3" and 5 1/2".

Now you will need to cut that extra 1/2" that is along the long side but don't discard that.  Save this strip to use as inserts for your cool pop ups!

Now its time to cut out one of the little 1/2" flap that will create the box and to cut the flaps.

Now you will put some scor-tape on the small flap so that you can create the box when folded.

Adhere this little flap to the opposing end of the cardstock.  This will create the box.

Now you can fold down the flaps and add the inserts to the middle.  Use that extra 1/2" strip of paper to make those inserts!

Now you are ready to decorate your pop up card box!!  Here are a few close-ups of mine!  I used the Add-On Stamp Set - Happy Spring!

I used my Silhouette to cut the grass for the inserts but you can cut your grass using scissors or free-hand!  I added the little baskets, easter eggs and Easter bunny using scor-tape.

 

I had alot of fun making this Card In A Box.  I found the instructions on Splitcoaststampers and various other websites.  All you have to do is google Card In a Box and you will find all kinds of sizes for this project!  Hope you have a very blessed Easter!

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #5

Here is my project using some beautiful Hampton Art clear stamps!!

The stamp set I used is called Carpe Diem by Hampton Art.  Its a clear stamp set so that made it super easy to stamp the background on the Baja Blue cardstock using Baja Blue ink.  The birds were stamped on ivory cardstock using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and cut out.  The sentiment was stamped onto a Labels 28.  While the cardstock was still in the die, I used a sponge to add color around the edge of the die.  Then I stamped the sentiment.  I layered that onto a Decorative Labels 28 in the blue and kraft cardstocks.  I added some white seam binding and a couple of white paper roses that I sponged with the blue ink, also!  To finish off the card, I added pearls in the corners and stickles to the birds!

This was a fun card to make.  I love to stamp and that is actually how I got started in this crazy crafting world!  Sometimes it is so great to just create for fun, isn't it?  Plus I used some of my crafty hoard!!  You have until April 20 to participate in this fun stampers challenge!  Be sure to link up your project HERE on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog.

Dance in the Rain!

Hello Friends!  Today I have a fun project to share with you using the April Creative Cafe' Kit - Spring is in the Air.  But before I show you my project, I would like to share with you a short video I made showing the contents of this fabulous kit!

  

 

Here is a card I made using supplies from the April Creative Cafe' Kit - Spring Is In The Air.  All of the papers and embellishments are included in the kit plus the stamp set - Dancin' In The Rain.

 

This card measure 4 1/4 x 5 1/2".  I used the pink cardstock as the base of this card.  The white layer was cut to 4 x 5 1/4".  The two smaller panels measure 2 1/4 x 3 1/4" and 3 x 3 7/8".  After cutting these two panels I used an edger punch along the bottom.  The white panel and the patterned paper panel where cut smaller than the measurements but because each edger punch is different you will have to determine the exact size yourself.  I stamped the sentiment using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink pad first.....

 

Then using the light blue ink pad, I stamped the clouds and the rain over the sentiment.
