Hello! Happy Wednesday! Hope you are having a great week. It is going by so fast because of the Memorial Day holiday, isn't it? The weather has been wonderful here for the past few days and we have really been enjoying the pool. But now its back to the regular schedule for me.
I had a chance to work on a project that I can actually share with you. Tomorrow is my final post for The Rubber Cafe as May Guest Designer. I made an altered frame using Vintage Treasures Stamp Set from The Rubber Cafe. Plus I used lots of Scrap Happy Sheer Glue on everything!!
This altered frame actually has a story. I covered this $1 wooden frame with pink patterned paper about 3 years ago. I set it aside to dry and just never came back to it. A couple of weeks ago, my youngest daughter received the Student of the Month award and at the ceremony I took the best picture of her with her daddy. My husband NEVER smiles for pictures so this is just really awesome! When I got the frame out, I thought I would pull off the pink paper I had glued on......NOT! So I sanded the portion that I ripped off and stamped the background stamp from Vintage Treasures Stamp set (The Rubber Cafe) using Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.
Then I cut/embossed some Kraft Cardstock strips using the E8-001 Classic Scallop Edgeabilities® (Spellbinders™ Paper Arts). I sponged the edges with Victorian Velvet Distress ink pad and glued it down onto the frame using the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue (The Rubber Cafe).
After the scallop strips were adhered down, I sanded around the outside edges and sponged some more Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. Then it was time to have lots of fun decorating the frame!
I stamped the butterfly from the Vintage Treasures set using Victorian Velvet & Shaded Lilac Distress Ink. I used my computer & the Mom's Typewriter font to print out the letters "Daddy's". I cut/embossed them using the S5-028 Nested Pennants. I cut/embossed S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants from Cotton Candy Pop-Tones 100# cardstock. The I added some Crystal Stickles to both butterflies and let them dry. Then I fussy cut them out and popped them onto the frame using some 3d foam squares. Here are a few close-ups.
I used my favorite set of Spellbinders™ Paper Arts die templates - S5-086 Bitty Blossoms to make the flowers and leaves. I stamped the clock face from the Vintages Treasures Stamp set and adhered that to the frame, then added the flowers. The wooden letters are from Pink Paislee and glued on using the Scrap Happy Sheer glue.
I hope this altered frame has given you some inspiration to finish a project that has been sitting around a long time! Now I am off to work on my monthly Spellbinders projects. I told myself not to wait until the last minute but I always do! LOL Have a great week!
