What Have I Been Doing?

I know its been awhile since I posted and I apologize.  I have been having fun with my family this summer.  No excuses, nothing big.....just having fun.   So this is what I have been doing in my crafty room.

My youngest daughter, Cassie, asked me to make her a wall hanging for her "new" room.  So I started that last week.  We saw this really cool wall hanging at Target when we purchased her new bedset and I took a picture of it with my phone.  It's a canvas flower collage.  Here's a picture!

 The first thing we did was wait until Hobby Lobby had all their art canvas on sale for 30% off!  That way if I ruined it, it wasn't a big deal!!  LOL  I think we paid about $8 for a 16 x 20 pretreated canvas.  If you don't get a pretreated canvas, you will need to apply a layer of Gesso to the canvas to get it ready. 

I painted the whole canvas with a lite lemon yellow color and let that dry really good for a couple of days.  Then I started laying out my collage.  I used Liquitex Matte Gel for my collage instead of Modge Podge.  So far the collage has dried really nice and is not "tacky" which is a problem I have had with Modge Podge in the past.  Here is MY finished canvas!

The patterned paper is from Echo Park's Little Girl Collection.  Even the alpha is from that collection.  I cut everything using either scissors or the Blossom die (Spellbinders).  I tried to cut as much by hand as possible.  What do you think of my tulips I created?  Fun, right?  You can click on the picture to get an up-close look.

More Flower Soft Sneak Peeks!

Here is another sneak peek from Flower Soft! 

This is the newest topper from Flower Soft's Spellbinders Vintage Christmas Toppers.  You can use your Spellbinders dies to cut/emboss the different toppers to create wonderful projects, like - cards, gifts and scrapbook pages.  I used Flower Soft Mixed Colors - Vintage Christmas.  I mixed this with the Diamond Range Gold Flower Soft.  This card has quite a wonderful shimmer that I didn't pick up very good with my photography skills, sorry!  I added some Gold Peel Off stickers around the outside of the red layer of my card to add just alittle extra touch.  I like using the peel offs because they no extra weight to my card.

I used the Scalloped Circle Lg to die cut the main image & Grand Scalloped Circle Nestabilities for the green layer.  The sentiment tag is part of the topper set so I just cut it out, added a brad and adhered it into place.  Check out more of these beautiful Vintage Christmas Toppers on the Flower Soft Blog.

Christmas In July With Flower Soft

Hello, Flower Soft Lovers!  Since CHA is just a couple of days away, I have some sneak peeks of new Flower Soft products to show you.  I know that you are going to love these!  As usual, Flower Soft has created some of the most unique card making products.  Are you ready?

This is a card I made using the new Christmas Snow Globes.  For this base of my card, I used the Oval Aperture Card.  This allows you to insert your Display Globe with the beautiful Christmas scene and then has an extra flap to cover the back of the globe so that your card looks so nice and neat inside!  It might be hard to see but I added some Polar White Flower Soft mixed with Silver Diamond Range Flower Soft so that you can shake the Christmas Globe Card and see the "snow" falling!  I added a piece of Blue cardstock that I cut using the Oval Aperture Card template and a craft knife.  I die cut a frame from some Sky Metallic cardstock and after glueing it in place, added some pearl stickers.  The sentiment is from the same sheet the Christmas scene is from.  After cutting it out with scissors, I adhered it to a fancy tag die cut from the metallic paper.  More pearl stickers were added for a fancy touch!

Quick Note Cards....

Here are a couple of quick note cards I made yesterday in my very cool basement.  I was hiding out from the terrible heat.....110 degrees heat index!  The cool basement is the perfect place, let me tell you!

I needed to make a few cards for my mom.  You see, she likes to send cards to her church friends and I think her church friends are becoming to expect them!  LOL  Makes me smile, that's for sure.

Here is a quick and simple set of note cards using just cardstock, ink and stamps....with a bit of twine thrown in!

I used some Papertrey Ink stamps that haven't gotten much love.  I think this is only the second time they have seen any ink!  I stamped the flowers using white pigment ink onto Kraft cardstock.  The base of the two cards are Posh White Linen cardstock.  Then I used a bit of Blue Cardstock to give my cards some interest.  I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of the white linen cardstock and punched it out using the Word Window punch.  This was a super simple but cute card.  I think my mom will like these, don't you?

Happy Monday to You!

Happy Monday!  Hope your week has gotten off to a good start!  Now that it is summer, Monday's aren't as bad as they are when school is in session.   It is so stinkin' hot here today!  The actual temp is supposed to get up to 102 degrees with heat index of 110 degrees.  That just makes me want to stay inside, in my cool basement craft room! 

So here is another project using some more of that wonderful The Twinery Twine.  I actually made this card for the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol contest but forgot to upload it.  What a dummy I am.  All I can say is I have really been enjoying this summer break!  LOL

I used some The Girls' Paperie patterned paper for this card.  I love that paper so much and I have kept every single scrap so that is what I used for this card!  I tied the twine around the card into a knot and then added the music paper flower and button tied with a bow.  The sentiment is from Gina K. designs and was stamped onto a piece of white cardstock that I punched out.

Pretty simple card, isn't it?  I think I am going to take that design and make the 35 thank you cards that Colleen needs for all her wonderful graduation gifts.  Like I said I sure have been enjoying summer with my family.  Crafting hasn't been a big priority for me but I have been getting such wonderful CHA stuff that I can't wait to get busy so I can share it with you all!

Here are a few projects I made using the wonderful twine from the The Twinery and cardstock from Discount Cardstock!

This is a 4th of July banner I made for our annual party.  I used some Maraschino Twine from the Twinery and tied it into bows at each side of the pennants.  I think it added just the right touch to my project.  I used Posh Red Linen, Posh White Linen & Posh Patriot Blue Linen cardstock from Discount Cardstock.

Here is a cute, summery card that I made using Lemon Drop & Cappuccino Twine from The Twinery.  I also used Spice, Yellow Cascata Felt, Brilliant White 110# and Posh Green Crepe Cardstocks.  You can click on the picture of this card to get a closer look at the twine centers of the flowers.

As you can see, I have had alot of fun using up the wonderful twine I received from The Twinery.  I have a ton more projects to show you over the next few days, too!  Here is so more information about these two great companies!

Wildflowers 2 - Die Cut Dimensions

This week over at Flower Soft, the new Die Cut Dimensions - Wildflowers 2 toppers are being showcased.  If possible, these Wild Flower Toppers are every more beautiful than the first set.  I have made a couple of cards using these new toppers.  You can check out what the rest of the design team is doing on the Flower Soft Blog.

For this card, I used the single and double punch-outs from the Wildflower Toppers for the flowers.  I used my dry embossing stylus to give all the flowers a bit of dimension and then popped them up on the card using 3d foam squares.  I added some glitter to the middle of the flowers for some bling! 

 This is one of the new toppers that I die cut using Labels 8 die templates.  After die cutting, I added some Diamond Range Gold Flower Soft to the middle of my flowers.  After I stamped the sentiment, I added little pearls along the bottom.. but I wanted them to match the centers of my flowers so I used a gold paint pen to color them.

New Flower Soft Toppers!

Hey Everyone!  Hope you are doing well.  Things have been kinda wonky around here.  First, I got a computer virus......YUCK!  It's been an interesting experience and one that everyone goes thru, it seems.

Well the good news is that I have a card to share with you using a new topper from Flower Soft.  My card uses the new Springtime Card Toppers.  I just love this set and will have a bunch of projects to show you using these!

 
Aren't those boots the cutest?  I sure think so!  I added some Spring Mixed Colors Flower Soft Sprinkles at the top of the boots to give it some dimension.  Now you don't need to add alot but the Spring Flower Soft has the perfect colors for this topper.  I used the Labels 4 die template to cut/emboss the topper and added a sentiment stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink at the top. 

Sure hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!  I should be cleaning my house and getting ready for our annual 4th of July party.  But as you can see, I am busy doing other stuff!  LOL  Have fun and stay safe this weekend!  Talk to you Tuesday!
