A Peek Into My Stamping Room

I went shopping........

so I went to a craft store that will remain nameless the other day.  I was really looking for a copy of the November/December Paper Crafts for my mother but found some other things instead.  One of the things I found is a Cuttlebug A-2 Embossing folder.  Wow, those things are cute and pretty cheap.  I can only hope that Stampin' Up! will come out with something similar.  Wouldn't it be great to be able to get embossing folders to match Stampin' Up!'s stamp sets?  Well, a girl can dream can't she?  Here is what I made with my new embossing folder.

Supplies Used:  Eastern Blooms & All Holidays Stamp sets; Always Artichoke, Kraft, Riding Hood Red, Shimmery White cardstock; Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke classic Ink pads; vintage brads, word window punch, moss taffeta ribbon and Cuttlebug A-2 Swirls embossing folder.

If you haven't noticed already, All Holidays stamp set is one I use alot.  Its the best sentiment set in the whole catalog!  Of course, I used sentiments from the set in both of my cards published in Paper Crafts magazine.  Gotta Love It!

Just Because I Care.......

  Here is a card I made using the colors from the Color Combo Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  The combo is Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango & Kiwi Kiss.   I used True Friend Stamp set and the Level 1 Hostess set Best Yet for the sentiment.  I also got out my paper piercer and template.  I don't usually pierce much but I think it looks really good on the textured Kiwi Kiss cardstock.  The tangerine and Kiwi cardstock pieces were some scraps I had in my scrapbox, too!  I stamped the flower image from the true friend set on the tangerine using the tangerine ink.  Its a nice subtle background. 

 I am sending this card to a special friend of mine.  Pat just learned that she has cancer again (8 times in 24 years).  She is such a fighter but I don't know about this time, she sounds really down so I am hoping this card will help perk her up.

Just Jawing Invitation!

Here are the invitations I made this weekend with my oldest daughter.  We are having a Halloween Costume Party/Weenie Roast and she wanted to make cards using this set.  Now Just Jawing is not something I would purchase, as a matter of fact, I borrowed it from a friend!  Colleen cut out 18 of these skeleton images and put the cards together and I think she did a great job.  We tried to keep it kinda simple since we figured her friends would just throw them away.LOL

Supplies Used:  Just Jawing and Hugs & Wishes Stamp sets; Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White cardstock; Regal Rose Classic INk and Marker; scallop square punch, 1 1/4" square punch and rose grosgrain.

Guess what I have in my hot little hands?  The November/December issue of Paper Crafts magazine.  My cards are on page 82!  I am so excited and actually kinda got teary when I saw they magazine - I am such a dork! It's really great when you reach a goal, isn't it?  Now I have to set a few new goals and start working on them!!  Once the magazine is up on the Paper Crafts website, I will show you my cards!!  Talk to you soon.

Funky!

  So this past weekend was World Card Making day.  On Splitcoast Stampers they had a whole weekend of challenges to celebrate.  One of the challenges was an Inspiration Challenge where you look at someone's gallery and CASE one of their cards.  You have to change at least 2 things so that the card is your own.  Here is the card I made.  Colleen called it Funky!  I had to laugh.  This is just another way to use up some scraps of DSP.  I stamped the petal images using black on some Sweet Always DSP and cut them out.  I used a Filigree Brad in the middle and the sentiment is from the Smarty Pants set.  I also used the Top Note die for my Big Shot.  I threaded my ribbon thru a small hole I made on the side of my top note.

Quotes and such....

That was the Ways to Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers on thursday.  Boy, it really sparked my creativity!  I combined 3 challenges on this card.  They are Ways To Use It, Color Combo Challenge and Sketch Challenge!  What do you think?

 

So I took this picture outside this morning.  I wanted to show off my husband's green thumb!  You should see the flowers in person, cause they are even better.

The color combo was Really Rust, Chocolate Chip & Baja Breeze.  They go just great together - totally reminds me of fall, doesn't it you?  I printed the bible verse out on my 'puter.  Its my favorite bible verse and I think of it alot when I am down or just need some extra help.  I think I need to play with my Crop-a-dile more though.  I had trouble finding the right setting for these eyelets.  I think I might be Crop-a-dile impaired! LOL  I love to use it to punch holes in anything but setting eyelets can be confusing.  Anyone got any tips?

I found a great tip on Beate John's blog yesterday.  She used her square scallop punch to make a rectangle.  I tried it and I think it looks great.  I can post a tutorial over the weekend if anyone wants to see it?
