Delightful Circles

Last week, the Ways to Use It Challenge was called Just One.  You had to use a one word sentiment on the front of your card.  Here is what I came up with!!

As you can see, I got some new stuff.  I purchased a "grab" bag of patterned cardstock, which is a great way to try some new stuff plus cheap, too.  Then I broke down and bought some circle nestabilities.  Guess what?  They work great in the Big Shot.  I mean they really work GREAT!!  Just made me love my Big Shot more.  LOL

I based my colors on the patterned paper, using Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip Cardstocks.  The sentiment comes from a set called It's All Good.  I used vintage brads in the corners.  Pretty easy card but the one word thing was hard.  I think this card will work for a birthday, don't you?  Or maybe even a thank you card.  Who knows what I will use it for.

Gotta Love a Birdhouse Ornament!

  I made this birdhouse for the 3d challenge on Splitcoast Stampers and think its really cool!  You can find the template on  Nicole Heady's blog.  I printed it directly onto the Kraft cardstock and cut it out.  I scored it using my bone folder plus cut out the top and bottom pieces (all dimensions, instructions and the template to print are on Nicole's blog)  I covered the top and bottom pieces with Holiday Treasures Designer Series Paper.  Then I punched out a scallop circle and punched the middle out with the 3/4" circle punch making it look like a wreath.  I used my Real Red brads to decorate my Kiwi Kiss wreath and used dimensionals to put it in place.  I forgot to put a hole in the roof for my hanger so I folded another scallop circle in half and punched a small hole in it.  I tied my gold cording hanger thru the holes and using Mono Multi, glued the scallop circle in place.  I used Mono Multi on  almost everything.  Its some pretty good stuff and a little goes a long way!!

Hope you give this a try.  I think I might make a few of these for Cassie's teacher as a Christmas present.  I hate giving the same old teacher gift, don't you?  Talk to you soon!

Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits! Yummy!!

Here is the promised recipe.  I think these will go great with Spaghetti and Meatballs tonight for dinner, what do you think? 

Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits

This is a perfect recipe to pull out if you are short on time because there is no rolling or cutting. The cheese and garlic add extra kick to a plain biscuit, and kids love them. They are the perfect accompaniment to serve with soups or stews, and are great served with a salad.

INGREDIENTS

2 c. flour

2 tbsp. granulated sugar

4 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. salt

2/3 c. butter or margarine

1 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese

1 1/4 c. milk

Chives (optional)

DIRECTIONS

Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in butter with pastry cutter until mixture is fine. Add cheese and mix well. Add milk and stir until just moistened. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Sprinkle top with chopped dried or fresh chives if desired. Bake at 400 degrees for approx. 15 minutes.

1 Make tag from cardstock. 2 Crumple tag and smooth out. Spray edges with color wash; let dry. Apply chalk. 3 Ink chipboard moon; let dry. Chalk edges and adhere. 4 Ink chipboard bat; let dry. Adhere with foam tape. 5 Print sentiment on cardstock; trim and tear edges. Chalk edges and adhere with foam tape. Attach brads. Attach ribbon with brad.

Baby Cakes!

 This stamp set is so cute.  Its a Level 2 Hostess set and I just love it.  What a cute little bunny!  I thought it was perfect for a baby card.  I used watercolor paper for this card.  If you haven't tried Stampin' Up!'s watercolor paper, you are missing out.  I can't tell you how great it is to watercolor on.  The colors blend so well and the paper doesn't pill or tear.  Its just great.  Now, I am not the best watercolorist but I think this turned out pretty good!  The sentiment is from Lockhart Stamp company and the brad I bought at Wal-mart (on clearance no less!!) but everything else is Stampin' Up!

Hope you are having a great weekend.  We found out that our oldest daughter made it into the University of Missouri - Kansas City Honor Band!  What a big deal.  She will be spending 3 days at the college in January working with kids from all over the state and 3 clinicians from big universities.  It will be a great experience for her.  Plus Mom is going to tag along!  I think it will be fun to spend some time with just her.  We don't get to do that very much.  Talk to you later!! 

Ribbon Inspiration!

Here is a card that I made a few months back for a design call.  Sadly, it didn't make the cut BUT I wanted to share it with you guys.  I chose my colors based on the ribbon.  What do you think?

I just love this stamp set.  Its really nice and has some great sentiments, too.  I have a bunch more cards to share with you next week.  So stay tuned!  I have been working on various design calls for a magazine with some success.  Unfortunately, you won't see anything until February.  But its still really exciting.  I have to keep stamping almost daily to keep the creative juices flowing.  Plus its really weird to be working on Summer projects when its almost Christmas.  I sure never imagined my life taking this direction but I couldn't be happier.  Hope you enjoy the "rejects"!  I really love to stamp, can't you tell?  Talk to you soon. 

Pink Chocolate Kisses .....

  That is the name for this week's color challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  The colors are Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss & Pink Pirouette.  I had to laugh, because while I was making this card, my oldest daughter comes into my stamp room and says - Hey, I like that card but what's up with the baby poo green?  Now there is no way Kiwi Kiss is anywhere near baby poo green,LOL! 

I stamped the flowers and cut them out, then stamped the kiwi centers and punched them out.  I put everything together and used dimensionals to give my flowers pop!   Its kinda funky and definitely a different style for me but stretching yourself is what its all about!  Hope you have a great day!

Crazy for Cupcakes!

So this month, Stampin' Up! is offering some birthday stamp sets at 20% when you spend just $20 on regular merchandise.  Do you see a theme here?  Stampin' Up! has been celebrating their 20th birthday and the promotions are reflecting it, don't you think?  My favorite stamp set, Crazy for Cupcakes, is one of the sets that is 20% off so here is my simple card using that set:

 

Its hard to see in the picture but I put Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the cupcakes.  Its very sparkly and took me only a few minutes to make.  I used scraps from the Bella Rose Designer Series paper and my In-Color blender pen markers, too!   Great stamp set for all types of birthday cards.

My Condiments to the Chef!

Here is a card I made for the Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge.  It was a fun sketch but does require you to have a circle cutter of some type.  I used the Coluzzle and it was pretty easy!  I have had this stamp set for a long time but don't really use it much.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession and I bought it at the rubber stamp convention I went to a few months back.    

  Supplies Used:  Viola stamp set; Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Whisper White cardstock, misc. patterned paper; Black Staz-on ink pad, Riding Hood Red Blender pen marker, silver brads, taffeta ribbon, Coluzzle cutting system, oval punch

Basic Pirouette Color Challenge

                                                                                                                             

Here is my Color Challenge card for this week!  The SCS color challenge was Pink Pirouette, Basic Black & Whisper White.  I just bought this sheet of black gingham patterned paper at that nameless craft store (LOL).  I got out my trusty embossing gun and started making my card.  I decided that I didn't want the full Baroque Motifs image on the front just part of it, so I masked the part I didn't want, inked up my stamp with versamark and used Black embossing powder.  Now when using the black embossing powder, be sure to use the Powder Pal, because you always get stray powder everywhere!  I then used my Boho Blossoms punch and punched out Pink Pirouette and Whisper white flowers to accent my embossed image.  The rhinestone brads are from the Pretties kit. Using my sewing machine, I attached the large ric-rac and stitched the corner of patterned paper on using pink thread.  I tied some pink gingham ribbon and black gingham ribbon onto a ribbon slide from the Styled Silver Hodpodge Hardware kit.  I haven't stamped all week so this looks pretty good!
