Random Acts of Kindness - A good thing!

Do I sound like Martha Stewart?  LOL  I got three different cards in the mail in the last few days.  All of them are Random Acts of Kindness or RAKs from the Blogger RAK challenge group.  These cards are really cute and really did bring a smile to my face!

This card is from Stephanie Hargis.  She is a new SU demo and picked me because I have the same name as her mom!!  Cute!  I just love everything about this card.  The stamp set is Tart & Tangy from the Occasions Mini catalog plus the Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper goes perfectly with the stamp set.  Stephanie put Crystal Effects on the cherries to make them shiny.  Its hard to tell in the picture but they really POP!.

This card is from Deb Albright - The Crafty Turtle.  Cute card and I just love that stamp set.  Remember it from last year's Sell-a-bration?  Deb used the dry embossing folder from the Cuttlebug to make that great background.

This card used one of my favorite stamp sets.  It is from Tammy Fite.  You can see her blog - www.stampwithtammy.com.  Very cute stuff over there so check it out.

Tammy stamped the Elephant twice.  Once on the whisper white cardstock and then again on the designer paper using basic black ink.  She then cut out the elephant from the designer paper and glued it over the one on the white cardstock.  Then she watercolored the rest of the images.  Very cute and gives a whole new look to the set, don't you think?

Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and comments about my last post.  Friday was the Funeral Luncheon and it was the biggest luncheon I have ever done.  I had more people volunteer and more food than I knew what to do with.  I think that is the true testament about how everyone feels about Tom.  The reason I like to do Funeral Luncheon is because you can see the true "body of Christ" when your parish family comes together to provide food and comfort to the ones who are mourning. 

I also feel like all the younger people in our church who don't take the time to get to know the older people (retirees, etc) are really missing out.  Some of my most favorite people are those older parishoners who love to help, talk (and laugh) at our church activities.  I have learned so much from them including more about my faith.

So enough about that stuff!!  I have some cards to share with you that I got in the mail.  They are RAKs or Random Acts of Kindness.  I will take pictures and post by tonight.  They are so cute.  You will love them!  Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  We had a good one.  Opened the pool but the weather is not so good.  We went to our friends house and showed them how to play Settlers of Cataan.  Its a good game but hard to describe!!  Talk to you later today!

God's Plan?

Today, a wonderful man from our church passed away.  Tom Schisler was only 50 years old.  Sometimes I really hate God's plan.  I know he has a plan for each and everyone of us but I guess coming to acceptance of that plan is the hard part.  Tom was a very loving guy.  He always had a smile and hug for everyone.  He gave his time to teach our kids at PSR.  He helped out with a bunch of different ministries plus he lived his faith every day in a very visible way.  I hope to use his example from now on.  I am in charge of his funeral luncheon on Friday so say a prayer for loaves & fishes that way I will have enough food.  It works everytime!!

But most of all say a prayer for Tom's family.  I know Tom is in heaven smiling and passing out hugs but here on earth alot of people are hurting and will miss him.  Thanks.

Love those rub-ons!

This is a 2-4-6-8 box that I made a couple of weeks ago.  I just realized I needed to show it to you.  You are probably tired of me not posting very much, so sorry.  You know how life can get in the way, right?

I used some Stampin' Up! rub-ons for this.  I also used the Die-Cut Blossoms.  I really like those, they come in 4 colors and alot of different sizes.  They are really cute and available in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

What to blog about????

Nothing too important is going on around here.  I have taken off this week on stamping so I really don't have much to show you.  I am not even sure what to blog about....LOL  Kinda dreary here in Missouri and the weather is awful.  It rained all weekend and I think all this bad weather has got me depressed.  I need something to kick up my mood.  Got any ideas?

I did find something to share!  This was my very first Carousel Notes Tote.  I embossed the scalloped design with White Embossing Powder and then cut it out.  I used some of my Prima Flowers with an Rhinestone Brad in the middle to cover up a punch error I made.  Not a bad save but I won't make that mistake again.  Don't you hate learning by mistakes?  This is the Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper.  I bought a new pack so I will have lots to use up in the next few weeks hopefully your not tired of it!

Here's a bag to put your present in!

This is a "genie" bag I made using the Afternoon Tea designer series paper.  Its called a Genie bag because the person who thought it up is named Genie!!  Funny, huh?  I am trying to use every little bit of this great paper and not waste any of it.  I took my Stylized Silver Ribbon slides and put an Rhinestone brad through them so they look really cool.  This is a trick I learned from Beate Johns over at Splitcoast Stampers.  There is a link to her blog listed on the right.

Supplies Used:  True Friend Stamp set; Afternoon Tea designer series paper, groovy guava, chocolate chip, soft sky & whisper white cardstock; Chocolate Chip grosgrain, Guava double-stitched ribbon, Ice brads, Silver Stylized Ribbon Slide; White Lunch Bag (found at wal-mart)

I cut my lunch bag down to 5 1/2" so that I could use just one sheet of paper for this project.  I also used a sponge and applied some chocolate chip ink around the endges of my groovy guava.

I am giving this to my mom with some cards in it for Mother's Day.

I also made this recipe box out of cardstock.  I am working up a mini tutorial so you can make one too!  Sorry but it won't be before Mother's Day cause I have a Funeral Luncheon tommorrow and will be super busy.  If you didn't know, I am the head honcho for Funeral Luncheon's at my church.  Keeps me busy sometimes and I get to hang out with alot of the older members of our church.  I learn alot from them!  So have a great day today and I will try to post again tommorrow.

Love those Carousel Notes!

In the Occasions Mini Catalog, the Carousel Notes are one of my favorite things.  I have found two different projects using these.  These notes come with chocolate chip envelopes so you could just make them into a cute note card, but I like this idea the best.

The Carousel Note Tote!  Isn't it cute?  I also made some note cards with envelopes to match to put inside.  I didn't really stamp much except the Thank you & For you on the small note cards.

I just love this project.  You make the envelope into a Bagolope (box) and then score/fold the carousel note to make the outside.  Go to Cambria Turnbow's website to see the great instructions for this project.  If you need Carousel Notes, just contact me and I can get you some!

Scrapbook Today!!

Here is a scrapbook page I made last Friday.  I have some cute Mother's Day present ideas I will show you tommorrow.  I made a recipe box with index cards, a genie bag to put a present in, carousel notes tote with note cards & a couple of other things.  I just haven't taken pictures of them yet.  I got the idea for this page from another scrapbook page on Splitcoaststampers, so I can't take credit for it at all.  The color combo is a great one, I think.

Supplies Used:  In The Stars, Big Deal Alphabet, Simple Serif Mini Alphabet; On Board Chipboard Simon Upper; Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White Cardstock; Mini Glue Dots, Glue Stick, Real Red Stampin' Write Marker, Pumpkin grosgain ribbon, 1 1/4" circle punch, small star punch; Real Red & Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink.

I punched out a bunch of circles using my 1 1/4" circle punch.  I ran a strip of SNAIL adhesive down the back of my Pumpkin pie cardstock and attached my circles making them look like a scalloped edge.  I used a glue stick to apply the cardstock to my letter and stars and using my Hobby Blade to cut it out.  Plus I stamped the small alphabet on whisper white cardstock and punched it out with the 1/4" square punch.  I used Mini glue dots to hold them in place.  Caitlyn is going to journal on it later but she liked the page alot.

Another Project!

This is a tag card.  You can write some nice things to the person you give it to or you could turn it into a little scrapbook.  I challenged myself to make this and not use ANY designer paper and it was HARD!

I kept things really simple thinking that only 1 or 2 pictures would go on each page.  I am putting pictures of my girls with Grandma Sue (my mom) on each page.  This weekend is my oldest's birthday (she will be 15) so I will make sure to get EVERYONE with just Grandma even ME!!  I think it would be good for each girl to write a note to Grandma Sue to put beside the picture.  What do you think?  This is super easy and I will try to work up a tutorial next week.  I have bunches of stuff to show you for Mother's Day Ideas so stay tuned!
