A Peek Into My Stamping Room

New Picture and Other stuff....

So I had an okay hair day, so I took my picture.  What do you think?  Well, if you don't like  -- don't tell me!! LOL

Here are some projects I worked on today.  They are for my Mother's Day stamp camp this month.

This is a mini sized legal pad.  I got it at Wal-mart pretty cheap.  So I covered it with Certainly Celery Paper.  I know I have been using the Doodle This and Doodle That stamp set alot, but I love them!!

Supplies Used:  Doodle This, Doodle That, Rough Edges Alphabet stamp sets; Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White cardstock; Jet Black Stazon Ink pad; Regal Rose, Apricot Appeal, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery markers; Stampin' Dimensionals; Pink Gingham ribbon

I cut out the flowers and mounted them on the front with the dimensionals.  I stamped the Notes using my Rough Edges Alphabet.  I have a love/hate relationship with this alphabet set.  I don't know if I cut the rubber to close or what but I have trouble getting it to look good.  This turned out really good for me! 

This is one piece of 8 1/2" x 11" paper scored and folded to make this little box.  The tutorial directions are HERE on Splitcoast Stampers.  Beate Johns did the tutorial on this project and she is a fantastic stamper so you should check out her blog.  The link is on the side!!

Supplies Used:  Carte Postale Stamp set; Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke, Recollections designer paper; Bravo Burgundy Classic Ink Pad; Always Artichoke & Bravo Burgundy Markers; Stamping Dimensionals & Burgundy Narrow Organdy Ribbon.

This was my first try on this box and I think it turned out pretty good!  I stamped that little bird and cut it out.  Then I used a dimensional to put it on my box.  I also used my markers directly on the stamp to make those flowers and leaves different colors.

Well that is all for today!  Whew!  Lots of going ons.  Tommorrow I will share with you how to use your slit punch to make a scalloped border and pictures of my 13 year old daughter in her first Formal dress.  There is an 8th grade formal coming up.  Boy, that was a shopping trip for H***.  Talk to you soon!

I will have some pictures to post later today.  I am hoping to have a good hair day and will take my picture.  Keith plus some of my other friends say I need to change my picture because I have lost some weight!  I haven't said too much about it to anyone because, well, I just haven't!  I have lost 15 pounds in the last 12 weeks and all is good.  Hopefully things will continue going down and don't come back up.  With me?  You just never know!!  Talk to you later.

Masking Tutorial

I am going to attempt to show you how to use masking in your stamping to achieve some really great looks.  Here we go!

The only supplies you really need is Post-It notes!  The sticky part of the little note is very helpful when you want to mask part of your image.  Here I am going to use - In Full Bloom stamp set, sticky notes, Jet Black Staz-on and Confetti White paper.

Stamp your image on the sticky note making sure part of the image includes the sticky part.  You can utilize the sticky to keep your image in place while masking.

Cut out the image you stamped on your sticky not.  This is your "mask"!

Now I am using a line art stamp set that will be watercolored, so I am starting in the center of my paper.  So stamp your image!

Place your mask you cut out over the image you stamped so that it will perfectly match up.  Now you can stamp another image close by and it won't look like you stamped over your first image.

Here is the my stamped images waiting for me to watercolor them.  I am using my aquapainter and ink pads.

Here is my completed card.  I used the Splitcoaststampers Sketch challenge for this week for my layout.  I used Mellow Moss, Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue and Confetti White Cardstock.  The ink pads I used are Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue and Mellow Moss.  What I do is put a drop or two of reinker in the top of my ink pads and use my aquapainter to watercolor the images.  I used my new stickles on the flowers for added glitter.  Not too sure if I like the stickles but I will say they make no mess like regular glitter.  Oh well, the jury is still out on stickles for me!  Hope you have learned something and I didn't confuse you more.  Once I make a mask I usually just keep it with the stamp set in case I want to use it again.  That way I don't have to cut another.  Masking works well on lots of styles of stamps not just the line art type!  Give it a try!

Did you watch ....?

Did you watch the Price Is Right on Thursday and Friday?  My whole family did and we saw ourselves!  How fun was that?  I could see a quick look at Keith on Thursday when the girl behind us got called to "come on down"!  But on Friday, you could see us quite a bit.  We were in the very last row under the Price Is Right sign.  It was really fun to watch the show from the audience.  It gives you a whole different idea of what really goes on!  Keith has so much fun and that's why we went.  So we will have to figure out our next adventure and save up for it!!

Don't Forget

Don't forget that tommorrow April 5, is the Price is Right show!  You should be able to see my hubby and I for a split second because the girl sitting behind us got to "Come on Down!"  What can I say, she was the "cute" girl in the group, know what I mean?

I owe you guys two tutorials - masking and how to use the slit punch to make a scalloped border.  I will get them done sometime this week but man, I haven't stamped since Saturday.  Its terrible!  Not feeling the mojo to stamp - but I did fiddle around somemore with my Adobe Photoshop program.  Its a little complicated but you can do quite a bit of editing and making things look good.

I amazed myself!

Sometimes I amaze myself!  I learned how to make my own watermark with my Adobe Photoshop and I added it to this card.   Thanks for the lesson Stampin' Kub!!

  I did case (copy & steal everything) the layout for this card but I came up with the color combos (my new favorites) and other stuff.  I used some non-SU stuff.  That is the last pearl brad I have and I am not buying anymore unless Stampin' Up! sells them (firmly putting my foot down!)

I stamped the doodling stamp in white craft ink in the background.  While that was drying, I stamped my flowers in Jet Black Stazon on Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink & whisper white cardstock then cut each one out.  The scalloped circle was punched out in Certainly Celery and I highlighted it with my white signo gel pen.  I put my flowers together with the pearl brad and mounted them on the circle with dimensionals.  I used the Warmest Regards Hostess Stamp set for the thank you and the ticket corner punch.  I finished everything off with some pink grosgrain ribbon.  It was fun to make something so pretty.  The stamp set is awesome and just think, I wasn't going to buy it until one of my customers ordered it.  Once I saw the stamp set in person, I knew it was for me!  I just love FREE stamps.  Oh that's right, I probably didn't mention that I got this stamp set, Doodle This, for FREE from Stampin' Up for a sales goal I met!  AWESOME!
