Labels 11 Easel Card!

Hope you are having a great weekend!  The weather is not very nice here but hopefully things will improve soon.  I don't know about where you live but here in Missouri, I haven't seen the sun in forever! 

Here is an Easel Card I wanted to share with you.  I actually made it a couple of weeks ago and forgot to share.  If you would like the directions for how to make this card, you can find them HERE on Splitcoaststampers.

I used the new release Labels Eleven die templates from Spellbinders™ Paper Arts.  I love all the new Labels that are being released at this CHA-Winter.  You will be able to see all the new releases on the Spellbinders™ Paper Arts website starting January 24!  

For this easel card, I cut/embossed the In Spades Pendants - center and accent pieces- plus the In Spades Borderabiltites.  I stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock and then positioned my Labels Eleven die template.  After I cut/embossed then I layered it onto the next size die cut.  The patterned paper I used is from Crafty Secrets and its one of my favorites.  So vintage and girly!

Candy Cane Christmas Critter!

The newest releases from DRS Designs are so cute!  One of my favorites is this Candy Cane Christmas Critter!  Here are a couple of projects I made using this cute little guy!  First - a simple card!

 

One tip I will give you that helps me alot is to pre-stamp a bunch of images.  I keep scraps of white cardstock in a box and will stamp images on them when I make cards.  Then I will take them with me and color while I am waiting.  I have my Copic Markers in a bucket that is fairly easy to carry in a bag.  I have been known to color at Dr's appointments, Saxophone lessons, play practice, piano practice - just to name a few.  So if you have some scraps of white cardstock, just stamp some images on them and put them aside.  You will be surprised how fast times flies while you are "waiting"!!

I used the same little critter!  Adorable that's what it is!!  Hope you Monday is going well.  We had a busy weekend.  My oldest daughter, Colleen, tried out for All-State band this past Saturday.  The results?  2nd Alternate All-State Concert Band.  This is so awesome considering there are only 2 Tenor Sax spots in the Concert Band.  That makes her 4th in the state.  To say I am proud is a total understatement!  We were also excited because Colleen's best friend made the All-State Concert Band playing Clarinet!  Yeah, Rachel!!  Hope you have a great week.  I have bunches of deadlines to meet but hopefully I will still be able to share some stuff with you.  Talk to you soon!

Glimmering Color Challenge

On Tuesday, the challenge on Splitcoast is the Color Combo Challenge.  This week, the combo is:  Kraft, Vanilla and Bravo Burgundy.  Well, much to my surprise, I didn't have any Bravo Burgundy so I substituted Scarlet Jewel from Papertrey Ink.  I also had fun using some new stuff that Sparkle N Sprinkle was nice enough to send the Spellbinders Design Team.  The glitter is fantastic! 

 

I stamped the Large Filigree Snowflake image from DRS Designs using Versamark.  Then I used Heat and Stick powder, heat set it and then added my glitter - then heat set again.  I love to use Heat and Stick powder with glitter because it keeps the glitter on so well.  No glitter floating around in the envelope!  I stamped the Glittering/Twinkling Christmas Greeting using Merlot Chalk Ink from Colorbox.  After it dried, I cut/embossed using the Petite Ovals Lg and then layered it onto a Petite Scalloped Oval Lg.  I am almost out of that beautiful satin ribbon from Stampin' Up!  Its retired so I will have to look around for something similar!!  I don't really think you need the ribbon, though.  Without the ribbon, this would be a great card to mail!  Hope you are having a great week!  Things are pretty good here.  Just busy with everyday stuff!  Talk to you tomorrow!

Sketch Challenge Wednesday

Today's sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers is pretty neat!  I love to do the sketch challenge so I decided today's would be a great way to "warm up"!

 

The image is called Santa with Reindeer from DRS Designs.  Its one of my favorites for Christmas cards this year!  I also used some new patterned paper I got from Papertrey Ink the other day.  I love the color combo in this paper.  Its very non-traditional, isn't it?

Cold, Cold, Cold

Wow!  It is so cold here.  Today the high is supposed to 49 degrees.  Not right, I tell you!  The weather is all crazy and its a perfect day to stay inside and work in the stamp room.  Unfortunately, the stuff I am working on I can't share but I do have a couple of things that are interesting.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and my friend & Spellbinders Design Team Member, Terre Fry, has altered a bra for the occasion.  You have got to check it out HERE!  Its so cool.  She used her Wizard and die templates with fabric to alter the bra.  Bet you didn't know that you could cut fabric with your Nestabilities™ did you?  Love it, Terre!

Also yesterday was the Color Combo Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  The color combo was Bermuda Bay, Apricot Appeal and Chocolate Chip.  Bermuda Bay is one of the new In-Colors.  I only purchased a package of 12 x 12 cardstock of In-Colors so I had to improvise an ink color.  I found that the Colorbox Queue Sweet Sixteen - Turquoise- was a really good match.  I am really starting to love chalk ink.  It covers so good on clear stamps, too.

Here is my card from yesterday:

 

I stamped the flower image from the September Kit of the Month (Unity Stamp Co.) using Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip and the Colorbox Turquoise onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock.  I matted that onto a piece of Apricot Appeal and added the brad from the Hodge Podge Hardware kit.  I mounted that onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock cut to 5x5" and my Chocolate Chip base is a 5 1/4" square card.  For the bottom detail, I cut a frame using the Scalloped Edge Frame from Spellbinders.  I cut off just the bottom to go under the Bermuda Bay that I cut using the Ric Rac Scallop Borderabilities from Spellbinders.  The tag is cut from the Ribbon Tag Trio 2 using Whisper White cardstock and the sentiment is from Gina K. Designs.  That ribbon is the last little bit of Chocolate Satin Ribbon I bought from Stampin' Up! a few years ago.  Love that stuff!

Another Easel Card

I liked the technique from yesterday that I made another Easel card!  So much fun to make and a great way to display your card, too!  I used a stamp from Red Lead Paperworks in Webster Groves, MO.  Its really a stamp for ATCs but I thought it would be beautiful on a card, too.  Most of the items in the store are Vintage BUT there was tons of brand, spanking new 12 x 12 scrapbook paper.  I was in heaven!  The stamp I used was designed by the ladies who own the store.  I bought a few others so I will be making other stuff for you to see later!  Right now, I have been feverishly working on projects I can't show right now.  I don't know how much I will get to post this week but I have also been working on a tutorial for the Foil Embossing tech. so don't worry.

Just a couple of more things to tell you.  If you like the Nested Poinsettias that I used on this project, don't delay purchasing them.  The seasonal dies are only available until the end of November.  Also Spellbinders Design Team has teamed up with the Tattered Angels team for a blog relay on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  Today's day is fellow Spellbinders design team member Julie Overby.  Go on over to her blog and check it out! Hope you had a great weekend!  We had the Homecoming Football game (we won the game!) on Friday night and Homecoming Dance on Saturday Night.  I know I am her mother but I have to say my daughter looked so beautiful!  Brings a tear to the eye!!  LOL 

Here is an Easel Card I made using the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

This was a great card to make.  I cut one whole sheet of Rose Red cardstock at 5 1/4" x 10 1/2" and fold it in half.  The top portion I folded in half again to make the easel.  For the front, I cut a sheet of Rose Red at 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" and then attached that to my easel.  Simple!  I used the Colorful Christmas paper pack from My Mind's Eye to complete the card.  Everything but the Scalloped & Classic Circles and the Snowflake Borderabilities is from the paper pack.  I love it when everything coordinates so well, makes you get kinda lazy!!  LOL

Challenges Combined!

Here is a card I made for Tuesday's Color Challenge and Wednesday's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  The color challenge was to use Mellow Moss, Kraft and White on your card.  My base is actually Soft Sand Heavy Base Weight Cardstock from Gina K. Designs.  Its like Kraft cardstock without the little flecks.  I stamped a Damask image from Unity Stamp Co. onto Mellow Moss using Mellow Moss ink.  Then I paper pierced around the outside edges and sponged some ink around the edges, too.

For the main image, I used the same Damask image stamping on scratch paper first and then stamping onto my white cardstock.  I stamped the Mr & Mrs. over the image using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink pad.  I sponged around the outside edges of these layers, too. 

This was a fun and easy card to make today!  Hope you are having a great Wednesday.  The week is flying by again!

Christmas Gift Idea!

Every week Splitcoaststampers sends out a newsletter called the Weekly Inkling.  A couple of weeks ago, the featured tutorial was the Pillow Box Die Bucket.  Well, I don't have the Pillow Box Die and really hate purchasing an expensive tool like that because it only makes one thing.  I got to looking at the Pillow Box Die Bucket and realized that the Labels 8 Nestabilities® from Spellbinders Paper Arts might work.  So I set out to make myself a bucket using my Labels 8.

Here is what I came up with:

 

 
Instead of making a pumpkin bucket, I decided to make a mug for a teacher.  Teacher's gifts are always alittle hard because you don't want to give them the same old thing every year!  This is definitely not the same old gift!  You could put just about anything inside.  I chose some nice tea bags in little cellophane bags.  I stamped the #1 Teacher using my JustRite Stampers - Trompe script font- onto a Tag from Fancy Tag Trio.  I mounted that onto 2 Labels 5 Nestabilities®.

Foil Embossing Challenge

Monday on Splitcoaststampers my friend, Lynn Mercurio, hosts the Technique Lover Challenge.  For this week, the technique is called Foil Embossing.  You wrap a piece of cardstock with regular aluminum foil and emboss using a Cuttlebug folder or Spellbinders Impressabilities.  Naturally I used an Impressabilities.  I used the new Flourish Impressabilities that was released this past summer at CHA. 

So for the Foil Embossing Technique, I did things just alittle different.  Before I wrapped my piece of cardstock with foil, I applied some spray adhesive.  Then I cut the foil using Labels 5 Nestabilities.  Before embossing I added the Flourish Impressabilities and leaving the foil covered cardstock in the Labels 5 die, I embossed it.  That left me with the cool edge AND the flourish design embossed into my foil.  I am using Moonlit Fog Pure Luxury Cardstock from Gina K Designs.  The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye called French Flea Market.  Along the bottom edge of the patterned paper I cut/embossed using the Renaissance Hearts Borderabilities.  The sentiment is from Gina K, too.  Its was in the Autumn StampTV Kit for this month and its called Thanks A Million.  I added some retired Stampin' Up! Soft Sky ribbon and some pearls and its done!  This was a fun technique.  I really love the look I get with the Impressabilites.  Just beautiful!
