Beautiful One Sheet Bag

Hey Everyone!  Hope you are having a great week!  Things are going pretty good for me.  The weather is finally acting like it's spring with 70 degree weather and beautiful sunshine!  I just love it.  April is one of my favorite months.  All the trees are budding, new flowers are blooming and it's my wedding anniversary.  On April 27, 1991, I married my high school sweetheart!  With anniversary and weddings on my mind, I made this bag using new The Rubber Cafe' stamps and some beautiful Mountain Rose Metallic cardstock from Discount Cardstock.

 

To make this bag, all you need is one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" and a scoring tool.  My scoring tool of choice is the Scor-Pal.  I have had one since the beginning and even got the new one when it came out.  It has alot more markings!  So here is how you make this bag......

Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and then score at.....

Now it is time to make the little diagonal folds.....from the fold line measure two inches and make a small mark...

You will need to do that on all four sides.  The middle will look like this when you are done!

 

Now you will need to prefold those diagonal folds, too.  It should look like this when done.  Sorry it's blurry....

Now apply some Scor-tape like this.......

Then you will apply Scor-Tape like this on the diagonal folds and adhere them down.

So I hope these pictures show you how to make this bag.  It isn't really that hard but its really hard to explain in words!  So that is why I am hoping that pictures work for everyone.  If you have questions, let me know!

A TRC Valentine's Day Gift Bag!

Hello Everyone!  Hope you are having a good day.  Are you ready for Valentine's day?  I'm not really completely ready but I did have a chance to make a few things today - one of the projects I am sharing with you today.  Here is a Valetine's Day Gift bag I made using The Rubber Cafe' stamps.

I have shown you all how to cover a gift bag a bunch of times so I will skip that part.  But I will show you how I made the tissue paper flower!

First, I used half a piece of white tissue paper.  This is tissue paper that I bought at the $1 store so it's not anything special.  I stamped all over this using the Trailing Hearts stamp (The Rubber Cafe') and Rhubarb Stalk Memento Ink pad.

Then I folded the tissue paper so that it was alittle bigger than the die template - S4-370 Blossom Five - #4 (remember #1 is the smallest).  I had at least 10 layers of tissue paper after folding.  Here is what it looked like before I die cut.

Here is what my tissue paper looked like after cutting and its still in the die template.

Now fold all these layers in half and then fold in half again so that you can punch a small hole in the middle for a brad that will hold all the layers together.  Like this......

Now insert your brad.....it doesn't have to be a pretty brad because it will probably not show once you fluff up your layers.

Now pull each layer toward the center and kind give it a scrunch.  Then once you have each layer in the middle, it should look kinda like this.

Valentine's Paper Bag Brag Card

Hey everyone!  Sorry its been awhile since I blogged.  I think I might finally be getting back into the swing of my "regular" routine.  My two youngest daughter's are back to school but my oldest doesn't go back to college for a few more days.  It's been nice having her home and I have been spending time with her instead of crafting.  

So the other day I was looking around Pinterest and found this interesting looking paper bag album.  I clicked on the link and it took me to a YouTube video showing how to split a paper lunch sack and make a mini-album.  Its a really cool idea and you can see the video HERE.  I decided that I didn't want to make such a big album.  I thought the idea of making a small brag book/card for my mom was alittle more do-able for me.  So here is what I came up with... I posted this project and a couple other pictures on The Rubber Cafe' Blog the other day. 

I decided I wanted to make another of these for a sweet friend of mine who is going thru a rough time.  I tweaked this idea just alittle more and came up with this.

For this project, I used some smaller paper bags from Michael's Celebration Line of stuff.  These bags are smaller than the regular lunch sacks.  The first thing I did was to cut/emboss the open edge with Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Classic Decorative Insert Four Edgeabilities.  Once that was done, then you cut open the bag down each side just to where the bag starts to make a triangle for the bottom.....clear as mud?   This is what it should look like.

Here is what the bag looks like flat and opened up.

Now turn the bag over and this is what it will look like.

Glue those flaps down so everything looks alittle more tidy.  I didn't do that on my first bag book and it really does look alittle nicer.

Now you can cover the front of the bag with some cardstock.  For my front panel, I used the Edgeabilities to match the bag.

Open the bag  and put some strong adhesive along those flaps but DON'T glue the flaps down to anything.  You are going to adhere some cardstock to the flaps and create a pocket.  

I cut a piece of Pink Lemonaide Pop-Tones cardstock to fit slightly smaller and then I cut/embossed using the Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Classic Decorative Inserts Edgeabilities and then took the tape liner off and adhered into place.

Here is what the pocket looks like.  

Now its time to decorate the bag.  On the front, I used the smallest rose in the Rose Garden Stamp set (The Rubber Cafe').  I wanted my roses to be sparkly, so after stamping them, I applied some Emboss Gloss (Clearsnap) and sprinkled on some Iridescent Embossing Powder.  After I heat set the embossing powder, I cut them out.

Here is a close-up of a rose and the MB2-006 Hearts Two Bezel I used.  For the bezel, I put a bunch of little pearls inside and poured my ICE Resin then I added the little seed pearls.  Now this had to sit and cure overnight.

This was a very fun project to make.  I love working with ICE Resin.  I use the 1 oz. Syringe because then you don't have to measure.  You just push out how much you need into a little plastic cup and you can put a cap on the syringe until you want to use it again.

A Non Traditional Christmas Tag!

Sorry I haven't been posting more but I am working on projects for CHA-W and they are kicking my butt!  LOL  My creativity doesn't seem to be flowing so well and it takes me forever to make one project.  I hate that!  But I did decide it was time to just make something for fun.  I also didn't want to pull out a bunch of Christmas stuff, since the projects I am working on aren't Christmasy at all.

See what I mean?  Totally non-traditional but I think it works!  Especially if you hang this tag on a present for a girly-girl!  LOL  I have three of those so that's easy!

To start, I stamped the background of this tag using The Rubber Cafe' set called Steampunk.  I used Basic Gray ink from Stampin' UP!  Then I used some Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx to sponge around the outside.  I added some ivory lace and mini pom poms (Really Reasonable Ribbon) along the bottom using some Scor-Tape.  To put together the dress form, I stamped the wings from The Rubber Cafe' set Vintage Treasures onto some Silver Mirri Cardstock using Jet Black Staz-on.  After it dried, I fussy cut it out.  I used Decorative Dress Form die and the dress form stamp from the Vintage Treasures set to make the dress form.  I added the Elegant Merry Christmas stamp to complete the tag.  Really if you didn't have a sentiment like this, you could print something up on the computer.

So does this inspire you to use your everyday stamps to make something for Christmas?  I hope so.  I know for our family, money is tight and purchasing a bunch of stamp just for one Holiday isn't really an option.  So maybe this will help you be inspired to get into your stash and make something non-Traditional!!  Hope you have a great day!

Paper Crafted Snow Cones

Hello!  I have another holiday project to share with you today.  I made these cute little paper cones out of some cardstock, strong adhesive, stamps and some embellishments.  I think this is a perfect little gift holder for a gift card or a little bit of candies.  What do you think?

I had alot of fun making these little paper cones!  To start, I cut/embossed some red cardstock using Spellbinders™ LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles On.  I guess you can tell that I really like this die template set, huh?  LOL   After cutting/embossing the largest circle in the set, cut the circle in half - this die cut is 8" at it's widest point.

Now you have two half circles.  You will need to score these half circles down the middle at 4".  

Using the straight edge of the circle as a "pivot point", score at every third scallop.  It will look like this.  You will have a small flap on one side but not on the other.

Pre-fold the scored lines and then it is time to stamp!  I used It's A Blizzard Outside stamp and some white craft ink on my paper cone.

Now it's time to put the cone together.  Use some strong adhesive like 1/8" Scor-Tape to secure the cone together.

Now you can have some fun decorating these cones.  I just added some bakers twine as a hanger and some lace/tinsel around the top.  Of course, you could get really fancy with it!  Have some fun and use up all those embellishments you have purchased over the years!

I hope you will give this project a try!  It was very fun to make and I can't wait to fill them with goodies for my girls on Christmas day!

Holiday Cards and Gifts Blitz with The Rubber Cafe'

Hello!  Hope you are having a great weekend!  I don't know about you but I am behind a bit on my Christmas cards and gifts.  Well, I have good news.  The Rubber Cafe' Design Team is going to help us with some really wonderful gift and card ideas today on the blog.  I also got crafty and made some quick and cute little baskets with The Rubber Cafe' stamps and adhesives.  Here is what I made!

For these cute little baskets, I used the Grand Treat Basket by Theresa Momber that was posted on Splitcoaststampers during the Holiday Blitz Tutorials.  I made a change to the basket.  Instead of using the Spellbinders™ LF-124 Grand Scalloped Circles, I used the Spellbinders™ LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles One.  That does require a little bit of a change to the directions.  Here are the changes.....

The Grand Decorative Circles One is just a tiny bit bigger than the Grand Scalloped Circles.  See what I mean?

So you will have to line up the circle so that the 4" mark goes between 2 of the scallops all the way down and score at 2 3/4" and 5 1/4" just like in the original directions.

Now when you give this a 90 degree turn the scallops will not line up.  So what you need to do is make sure the scored lines are going straight horizontally and make sure a scallop is right in the middle of the 4" line.  Here is a picture and I used a black marker to show you how the scored lines should look.

Now go ahead and proceed with the basket just like in the original directions.  I stamped on my red circle with the Christmas Tidings set before putting everything together with The Rubber Cafe' - The One & Only Tape.  For the other basket, I cut some patterned paper and adhered it into place.  Here are a few close ups on how the embellishments look.

Today I am excited to show you two new and truly unique die templates. The first is S4-381 Hearts & Flowers.  These dies are "pop-up" dies created to only cut the flower petals & hearts so they can "pop-up" from your project to add dimension and interest.  However the outer edges do not have cut-lines, so these edges will give you a beautiful embossed detail for your projects.  Be sure to check out the Spellbinders™ Paper Arts blog to see more info about these fabulous dies!

The second die I want to introduce to you is S5-151 Basic Lattice.  This die template will create an intricate and beautiful embossed lattice die cut that will complement any project.

 To make the luminary, you will need:

• Two  8 ¼ x 6 ¾" pieces of pink cardstock
• One 4 x 4" square of pink cardstock
• Two 1 ½" strips of pink cardstock
• Four 4 ¼ x 6" pieces of pink cardstock
• Four 4 ¼ x 6" pieces of  Cardstock  Vellum
• S5-151 Basic Lattice
• LF-110 Grand Ovals #1 ( remember the smallest in the set is #1)
• S4-328 Foliage
• Green cardstock scraps
• Repositionable Tape
• Waxed Paper

To begin, score vertically 8 ¼ x 6 ¾" pieces of cardstock at 4" and 8".  Then turn the cardstock 90 degrees and score at ¼" along the bottom.  Pre-fold and snip so that your panels look like this….  (remember you can click on any picture to enlarge)

  Now you will need to cut/emboss the “Windows” of your luminary.   Position the Grand Ovals die and hold in place with repositionable tape being sure to position the Ovals in the center of the panel.   Each panel has two sections and each section will need a “window”.  Once you have cut/emboss all 4 windows you will need to apply Scor-Tape to the ¼" flaps on the side and along the bottom.

Now you will need to create the lattice vellum inserts for your window.  Cut/emboss four panels using the S5-151 Basic Lattice out of the 4 ¼ x 6" pieces of cardstock.  You will have some extra on each side that you can trim later.    Here are some steps to help you cut/emboss the S5-151 Basic Lattice.

This die template was so easy to cut/emboss using the GC-011 Junior Set of plates.  As you can see in this picture, the plates measure 8 ½ x 6".  This means they are half the size of the regular cutting plates.   The cutting/embossing sandwiches are the same as the large plates but here is a reminder of the cutting sandwich you will need to use in the Grand Calibur® from the bottom up –

1. A-Base Plate
2. Die Template with a piece of Waxed Paper on top
3. Cardstock
4. C-Cutting Plate

After cutting, proceed with embossing.  Here is a reminder of the embossing sandwich you will need to use in the Grand Calibur® from the bottom up.

1. A-Base Plate
2. Die with cardstock still in it.
3. Embossing Mat
4. B-Embossing Plate.

I found that using the waxed paper with this die was a great help when removing the cardstock from the die template.   Also, if this die does not cut completely in the first pass, you can turn the plates 90 degrees and run it thru the Grand Calibur® again!

 

Once you have cut the four panels, trim them to 4 x 6".  Now it is time to attach the vellum to the back of the Lattice die cuts.  Apply Scor-Tape along  the four corners of the 4 x 6" pieces of vellum (pictured below), remove liner off the tape and attach the Lattice die cut to the front of the vellum. 

To assemble the luminary, you will need to have these pieces cut/embossed and ready to go!  You will see that I have also cut/emboss two 1 x 8" strips of pink cardstock using the E8-003 Classic Triple Scallop & E8-012 Classic Decorative Inserts Four.  I scored these two strips at 4", pre-fold and applied Scor-tape along the bottom/outside. 

Now remove the tape liner from the front of the Lattice panels and adhere inside the ovals.  Then remove liner from side flap and adhere to second panel.  Your luminary should look like this…..

Then you will remove the tape liner from the side flap and adhere it together to form the square.  Like this…..

Then attach the 4 x 4" square to the bottom of the luminary.  This will make the basic luminary.   Adhere the Edgeabilities® strip into place and set your luminary aside.  Now it is time to decorate the luminary.

To decorate the luminary, I used S4-381 Hearts & Flowers.  This set of dies was designed to be used with Flower Soft.  You can use them different ways to achieve different looks.  To decorate my luminary, I chose to cut only (not emboss) the largest dies in the set.  Here is what they look like after cutting.

Using scissors, I cut each flower out and glued two of them together.  To one set of flowers I added some Peony Pink Flower Soft using Flower Soft glue.  To the other set of flowers I added some Pearl Jellies using Scrap Happy Sheer Glue from The Rubber Café.  I also cut/embossed some green leaf stems from S4-328 Foliage die template.

Using Beacon’s Advanced 3 in 1 craft glue, I decorated my luminary with my flowers.  Here are a few close-ups.

 To use this luminary, I purchased some battery-operated candles to place inside.  Here is what my luminary looks like when lighted.

 Here is another project I made using S4-381 Hearts & Flowers and S5-151 Basic Lattice.

As you can see, I used the S4-381 Hearts & Flowers die in a different way.  After cutting/embossing but before taking the die from the cardstock, I traced around the die using a black marker.  I then fussy cut around the marker lines to get the look I wanted! The traced lines just add another element to the card, don’t you think?  I will have a tutorial on how I made this card next week.

Happy Birthday to My Mom!

Hello!  Today is a very special day.  It's my mom's 73rd birthday!  We are celebrating by taking her to the local botanical gardens and then out to lunch.  It will be a great day!   She is an active person and walks 3 miles almost every day.  So we decided an iPod is a great gift for her.  You know I hate to purchase a gift bag for these occassions so I got out a brown lunch sack and got busy!!  LOL

Champagne Metallic Gift Box

Today I have a project to share with you that I made using some beautiful Champagne Metallic Cardstock from Discount Cardstock.  This metallic cardstock is on special this week at Discount Cardstock.  You can check it out HERE.

Using the Mini-Pizza Box tutorial from Splitcoaststampers I made this box.  I then created a bottom and top using S4-161 Labels One Nestabilities®.  Here is what it looks like when the box is open.

Here is a close-up of the details on top of the box.  I had alot of fun using the new S5-104 Bauble Blossoms 2 die template to make the flower.  The metallic cardstock really cuts and embosses wonderfully!

I'm Back! What A Great Trip!

Well, I am back from my fantastic trip to Phoenix, AZ for the Spellbinders™ Paper Arts Design Team Retreat.  It was wonderful.  I sure did need to get away because the day before I left Keith had another kidney stone drama.  Thankfully Keith is recovered and all is well!

For the DT retreat, we all decided to have a swap.  Just alittle something that is about you or where you live.  I decided to make a tag for a bag full of my favorite goodies that I like to have on a trip.....you know, small travel size Kleenex, chocolate, mints, chocolate, cookies, chocolate......well you get the idea!  LOL

Here is the tag I made!

I used a selective cutting technique to create the top of the tag.  I will have a tutorial on this for you in a couple of days (as soon as I can see my desk).    Here is a list of all my supplies with links:
