Pocket of Roses Wall Hanging

I was so excited to see another of my projects in the Idea Gallery on the Spellbinders™ Paper Arts website.  This project is actually one of my favorites!  I made it back before Christmas.  Here is my project:

The pocket on this project is from one of my daughter's favorite pairs of jeans.  While participating in a reward day for good End of Course tests, she ripped the crotch of her favorite jeans.  There was no way to fix them, so I promised her I would recycle them!  LOL  I cut some 100% Wool Felt using S5-050 Rose Creations Dies.  I used my hot glue gun to put them together.  The white felt flowers were airbrushed with Copic marker.  

It's kinda hard to see but I used some clip art inside the Shields One Bezel to accent the pocket.  Here is a close-up:

 

I used my computer and the Dymo font to print out the journaling.  It says:  The Rose Speaks of love silently in a language known only to the heart.

 

 also added some corrugated board that was painted with white gesso.  The base of this wall hanging was made from LF-018 Grand Decorative Labels One and Kraft cardstock glued to cereal box weight chipboard.  I had so much fun making this.  It is such a different type of project for me!

Work in Progress

Sorry I haven't posted a project in a while.  Everyday life sometimes gets in the way of creating and blogging.   In a way, I am so glad April is over.  Every weekend I had something to do - go to Nashville for the band festival, take a trip to visit Truman State University plus go to the College Wind Symphony concert in Kansas City with the hubby - see what I mean?  LOL

So I have been working on lots of projects I can't show you but I did have alittle time to start a project but like I said in my title it is a work in progress.  I will post more about it in the future when I finish.

So I have all the pages cut out and the front is decorated.  My middle daughter went to her Junior Prom and I have a ton of pictures I can't wait to get inside this little mini album.

Do you have any works in progress that you just can't seem to finish?  Hopefully I am not the only one with this issue!  LOL  Have a great week!

A Spellbinders Project to Share!

I noticed the other day that another of my projects was up on the Spellbinders Paper Arts website and thought I would share the whole project with you.   It's called Enjoy Tag Book and you can see it in the Idea Gallery HERE.   I love the shape of S5-178 Arched Windows One and just knew it would make a great tag book.  So here it is!

Unfortunately on the Spellbinders website there is only room to show you this view of the tag book.  Lucky for you, I took pictures of the whole thing and can share them with you today!  All the papers used in this tag book are from Melissa Frances.  I just love the soft vintage colors.  I used some other stuff non-paper supplies, too.  For the front S4-129 Classic Scalloped Squares Sm. I cut/emboss using white felt.  I also used a ton of bling in this tag book and it all comes from Want2Scrap!  I used the S2-034 Ornamental Tags Three cut/embossed from some Sky Blue Metallic Cardstock.

For this page, I created a frame using the  S5-178 Arched Windows One out of white glitter paper.  I stamped the sentiment from JustRite® Papercraft- Antique Valentines Tags One Stamp Set.  See the bling and those cute little pom poms?  The bling comes from Want2Scrap and I got the pom poms from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I really love this page of my tag book.  I cut/embossed some Kraft cardstock using new Die D-Lites S2-029 Birdcage One.  I cut the little bird from canvas using MD2-001 Birds One die and added the MD1-010 Hearts Two for a wing.  The little bird has a pearl for an eye, too!  I just printed the word using my computer and cut it out.

This is the last page of my tag book.  I cut/embossed the dress form from Kraft cardstock using MD2-007 Dresses Two. I cut/embossed the bottom of my dress form using S5-034 Parisian Accents.  I painted these using some Frost White All-Purpose Ink (Tsukineko) to give it that shiny look.  I added some decorative dress form bling from Want2Scrap and the sentiment.

A $1 Clipboard!

The other day I went shopping with my daughter's at the $1 Store.  We always have so much fun going thru places like that since you never know what is going to be there!  Well, I found the cutest clipboards.  Here is what it looked like before I got started!

This clipboard measures 6 x 8".  The first thing I did was to paint it with some white acrylic craft paint.  It didn't really cover very well and I decided I liked that look but if you try this and want the paint to cover well, use gesso first....that should seal the clipboard enough for a good coat of paint.

After it was dry, I started adding patterned paper from Pink Paislee Secret Crush collection.  Once I put down the base patterned paper using Glossy Modge Podge, I gave everything a light coat of modge podge and allowed that to dry.  Then using Jet Black Staz-on, I stamped directly onto the modge podged layer using XOXO Small and Heart Strings stamps from The Rubber Cafe'.  Here is a picture of my finished clipboard...sorry I didn't take more step shots.

Using the set - Don't Be Wishy Washi - I stamped the black dotted strips onto white cardstock and cut them out.  I adhered everything down using the modge podge.  I stamped the Love sentiment from Remember The Moments onto a tab die cut from the Address Book set (Spellbinders). The hearts are from Spellbinders new Media Mixage line -Hearts One and Hearts Two.

Valentine's Paper Bag Brag Card

Hey everyone!  Sorry its been awhile since I blogged.  I think I might finally be getting back into the swing of my "regular" routine.  My two youngest daughter's are back to school but my oldest doesn't go back to college for a few more days.  It's been nice having her home and I have been spending time with her instead of crafting.  

So the other day I was looking around Pinterest and found this interesting looking paper bag album.  I clicked on the link and it took me to a YouTube video showing how to split a paper lunch sack and make a mini-album.  Its a really cool idea and you can see the video HERE.  I decided that I didn't want to make such a big album.  I thought the idea of making a small brag book/card for my mom was alittle more do-able for me.  So here is what I came up with... I posted this project and a couple other pictures on The Rubber Cafe' Blog the other day. 

I decided I wanted to make another of these for a sweet friend of mine who is going thru a rough time.  I tweaked this idea just alittle more and came up with this.

For this project, I used some smaller paper bags from Michael's Celebration Line of stuff.  These bags are smaller than the regular lunch sacks.  The first thing I did was to cut/emboss the open edge with Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Classic Decorative Insert Four Edgeabilities.  Once that was done, then you cut open the bag down each side just to where the bag starts to make a triangle for the bottom.....clear as mud?   This is what it should look like.

Here is what the bag looks like flat and opened up.

Now turn the bag over and this is what it will look like.

Glue those flaps down so everything looks alittle more tidy.  I didn't do that on my first bag book and it really does look alittle nicer.

Now you can cover the front of the bag with some cardstock.  For my front panel, I used the Edgeabilities to match the bag.

Open the bag  and put some strong adhesive along those flaps but DON'T glue the flaps down to anything.  You are going to adhere some cardstock to the flaps and create a pocket.  

I cut a piece of Pink Lemonaide Pop-Tones cardstock to fit slightly smaller and then I cut/embossed using the Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Classic Decorative Inserts Edgeabilities and then took the tape liner off and adhered into place.

Here is what the pocket looks like.  

Now its time to decorate the bag.  On the front, I used the smallest rose in the Rose Garden Stamp set (The Rubber Cafe').  I wanted my roses to be sparkly, so after stamping them, I applied some Emboss Gloss (Clearsnap) and sprinkled on some Iridescent Embossing Powder.  After I heat set the embossing powder, I cut them out.

Here is a close-up of a rose and the MB2-006 Hearts Two Bezel I used.  For the bezel, I put a bunch of little pearls inside and poured my ICE Resin then I added the little seed pearls.  Now this had to sit and cure overnight.

This was a very fun project to make.  I love working with ICE Resin.  I use the 1 oz. Syringe because then you don't have to measure.  You just push out how much you need into a little plastic cup and you can put a cap on the syringe until you want to use it again.

More Spellbinders Projects to share.....

Here is a little (4 x 4") art canvas that I made for Spellbinders™ Paper Arts and it showed up in the idea gallery the other day!

I had alot of fun making this little piece!  I used The Rubber Cafe' - Steampunk stamp set for the wings and base of the dress form.  The ART tiles and dressform are from the S5-087 Mix'd Media Playtime set.  I also used some decorative ovals, edgeabilities and lots of Mix'd Media Inkx.  Plus I finally found a use for that awesome safety pin/clear faceted beads I have been hoarding forever!!  LOL  Here are the supplies I used with links to Spellbinders™ Paper Arts website!  Hope you have a great day!

Halloween Boo Banner!

Hello everyone!  Hope you are having a great week so far!  Are you ready for Halloween?  Do you have all your decorations up and ready for your party?  If not, here is a project I made using just cardstock and Spellbinders™ Paper Arts die templates that you might want to try.

To make this Halloween banner you will need the following supplies:

• Posh Black Satin Sparkle 105#, Cosmic Orange 65#, Simply Smooth Ivory Cardstock 
• 4" Doilies - Wilton (bought at Wal-mart)
• S4-330 Nested Tombstone Die templates #4 & 5 (with #1 being the smallest)
• S4-333 Spider Web Die template
• Tulle Ribbon - bought at Hobby Lobby
• Double-Sided Black Satin 5/8" ribbon - Really Reasonable Ribbon
• Large eyelets, pearl bling
• Scrap Happy Sheer Glue - The Rubber Cafe'

First, I used the computer and my printer to print out the letters needed for this.  I printed each letter on one sheet of the ivory paper and cut/embossed them using the #4 Nested Tombstone die.  I trimmed the embossed edge off these so that I could layer them onto the orange die cuts.  Cut/emboss the largest die from the Nested Tombstone using the black cardstock three times.  Cut/emboss the #4 die out of the orange cardstock three times.  Cut/emboss the spider and web from black cardstock at least three times.  Now its time to put everything together.

See how I layered everything together?  The bottom layer is the large black tombstone.  Then I layered the white doilie and adhered the spider web into place. I used glue dots to add the spiders.

This will look great hanging in my living room, don't you think?  This was alot of fun to make and I hope you will give it a try! 

 

 

Rose Garden Wall Hanging

Hello!  Hope you are having a great day!  Today I would like to share with you a project I made using The Rubber Cafe' new release S-122 Rose Garden stamp set.  I just love the roses in this set.  The detail is just wonderful and the images heat emboss beautifully!

To make this wall hanging, I first cut/embossed some black cardstock using the Grand Decorative Ovals One #3 (with #1 being the smallest in the set) from Spellbinders.  I stamped the sentiment using Versamark Watermark stamp pad and sprinkled on some white embossing powder and heat set using my embossing gun.  I stamped the large rose image from S-122 Rose Garden set using Versamark Watermark stamp pad and sprinkled more white embossing powder, heat set and allowed it to cool.  Then using my Distress Markers, I water colored the image using a Niji water brush medium.  I love watercoloring with my Distress Markers because its just so darn easy!  I am alittle lazy about my coloring and alcohol markers can take alot of time!  LOL  I did the same thing with the leaves.  I assembled this by popping up the roses and leaves using some foam squares.  I used a bow tying helper to tie my bow and glued the ends of my bow to the back of my decorative oval.  Then using glue dots, I attached the rose in the middle of my bow.  Here are a few close-ups....

I think this would make a great present for your best friend, don't you?  I absolutely love those roses in the Rose Garden set.....just beautiful!  Have a great day!

RRR & Hampton Arts Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop!

For my project today, I made an accordian card using lots of RRR ribbon and trims plus a wonderful stamp set from Hampton Art called Carpe Diem.  This is a clear stamp set with 14 stamps in the Art Warehouse line from Hampton Art.  Here is my accordian tag card.

This accordian tag card measures 5 1/2" x 10" and is scored at every 2 1/2".  I actually did this in 2 panels so I could cut the top of each panel using a die from the Creative Book pages set from Spellbinders™ Paper Arts.  This is called selective cutting and I can show you this technique in another post if you are interested.  I stamped all over, didn't I?  These clear stamps are really high quality, taking ink very well and were fun to use!

Here are a few close-ups.

 These words are actually 3 different stamps that I put together.  I stamped them onto some Simply Smooth Ivory using Rich Cocoa Memento ink.  Then I used on oval die template to cut/emboss this.  I sponged the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and layered it onto S5-030 Fancy Tags Two that I cut/emboss from pink cardstock.  I used the Antique Linen Distress Ink on almost every edge of this project.  I stamped the bird using Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and fussy cut it out adding stickles after everything was finished!  Those beautiful pink rhinestones are also from Hampton Art Studio G line of self adhesive gems.

Excited to Share.......

One of my projects that I made for Spellbinders™ Paper Arts.  Yes, I finally get to share one of the many projects I have made so far.  This is a tag I made to show that there are many ways to use the new S4-330 Nested Tombstone set. 

To create this tag, I cut a piece of chipboard to 3 1/4 x 6" and covered it with the patterned paper.  Then using a selective cutting technique, I cut the top of my tag using the largest die in the S4-330 Nested Tombstone set so that just the top will cut.  If you are interested, I can do a small tutorial on this technique.  It is so easy!! 

I cut/embossed along the bottom with the E8-002 Classic Bracket edgeabilities.  Then I added a piece of white cardstock along the bottom.  I sponged all the edges with Colorbox Mudslide archival ink.
