Today is Leap day, February 29, it happens only 1 every 4 years. Do you know why? We think that the Earth takes 365 days to make its revolution around the sun. But not really....a complete revolution actually takes 365 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 16 seconds, or about 365.25 days. So, since it would be extremely confusing to have an extra quarter day each year, we add an extra FULL day every four years. This keeps our calendar right on track! Leap day is a special day here at the Seyer house. It's my daughter Caitlyn's birthday! We have already had the family party over the weekend but since today only comes around every 4 years, we are celebrating it again! LOL
Here is the card I made for my birthday girl.
I kept my design alittle on the simple side. I printed the sentiment out using the computer onto some Simply Smooth White cardstock and cut/embossed it using S5-025 Labels Seventeen #3 (remember #1 is the smallest in the set). The patterned paper is from a 6x6 pad called Spring Fling by Teresa Collins. Don't you just love the colors? The base of my card is made from Neenah Solar Crest White #110...if you like Papertrey Ink Stamper's Select White cardstock then you will LOVE the Neenah Solar Crest White #110 from Discount Cardstock. Same weight, same smooth texture.....its just perfect for the base of cards. You should give it a try because it is on SALE this week!
The butterflies are from S4-320 Nested Butterflies Two....the smallest die in the set. I just love those butterflies! The rolled flowers were made using S4-249 Big Scalloped Circles Lg #4. I just spiral cut the circle and rolled it starting from the outside. I used some more paper from the 6x6 paper pad so it all matched. I cut/embossed a scalloped edge to the dotted patterned paper using E8-001 Classic Scallop Edgeabilities. I added some pearls and seam binding ribbon to complete the card.
Inside of my card I added a Maya Road Kraft envelope so I would have something to put her present in. Money is a universal present, isn't it? All teenagers love it!! LOL
Hope you have a great Leap Day!!
