I'm Back!

Wow, CHA was so much fun but I am glad to be home.  It was a blast to see the Design Team again and I really enjoyed my whole experience at CHA.  I have never been to such an event so I was kinda overwhelmed, to say the least.  I do have a couple of pictures to share.  I took them with my phone so they aren't the best.

CHA Pictures at Snapfish!

I spent a few minutes watching Tim Holtz demo Grunge Paper and the new Distress Stickles Rock Candy.  Wow, I learned so much in those few minutes, too!  I especially loved the new line of Christmas paper from Graphic 45.  Sorry I didn't take pictures but I guarantee as soon as I can buy the stuff you will be seeing alot of it!

One of the most exciting things was that Spellbinders Paper Arts won 3rd place for Innovations at Summer CHA!!  Quite an honor and it was wonderful to see how happy that made Stacey Caron (owner of Spellbinders)!  I demo'd the Wizard, helped with Make 'n Takes and walked around the show being totally blown away by the array of companies there where!  Fantastic!

Fancy Tag Trio - take a peek!

Here is a peek at the new Fancy Tag Trio from Spellbinders Paper Arts!  This is a new release die from CHA.  It has 3 beautiful fancy tags in it.  This is the medium sized one, there is a smaller and a larger tag, too.  Its an awesome set of tags to use and has quickly become my favorites!  Of course, I think all the new releases are my favorites so maybe you better make up your own mind!  LOL

For this card I used one of the newest releases from DRS Designs.  Its called 3 Flowers with Butterfly.  I thinks its a very versatile image and would make some great all-purpose cards.  You know, birthday, anniversary, get well and just to say hello!  The sentiment is the One Line Get Well Soon stamp and the background is the 4 Corner Background.

I am currently on my way back home from CHA and will fill you in on my trip when I get settled!  I am sure I will be tired so please be patient!

Promised Tutorial!

Hello everyone!  Hope you enjoyed Spellbinders' CHA Blog Frenzy! Back on my Spellbinders blog frenzy day, I promised another tutorial showing how I made the Anniversary Box and card set shown below.

Since I didn't take any step shots when making the ensemble, I have made a new one using some really neat Glitter Paper from The Robin's Nest and a new release from DRS Designs. Plus today is the Monday Challenge - Faux Stitching on the DRS Designs Blog.  I had alot of fun making another of these projects!

For this project you will need the following supplies:

Spellbinders Paper Arts:

• S4-233 Labels 9 Die Template
• S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circles Lg
• S4-114 Standard Circles Lg
• Wizard

Dusty the Seahorse - DRS Designs
Tiny Happy Birthday Sentiment - DRS Designs

Aquamarine Glitter Paper - The Robin's Nest

Acetate or Transparency Sheet - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"
Craft & Photo Tape - Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
EZ Runner Vellum Tape - Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
Memory Book Dot 'n Go - Glue Dots Brand Adhesives

Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla & Baja Breeze CS, watercolor paper

White Gel pen, Aqua Painter, Ribbon

Step One:

Cut glitter cardstock  - 11 1/2 x 5 ".  Score at 4 1/2", 5 1/2", 10" & 11".  Turn cardstock 90 degrees and score at 1" & 4" down the long sides.  Cut along score lines as shown in the picture below.  Cut off the smallest rectangles at the top to form the flap.

In this picture, I am just showing you what it looks like when you fold the bottom portion of your box under the magnetic spacer plate.  After you do that, fold your paper over so the die is on the magnetic spacer plate.  Feed into Wizard and cut the Labels 9 window for the front of your box.

 

Using the EZ Runner Vellum Tape, adhere the
2 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of acetate to the inside of the Labels 9 frame. 

Now you are ready to put your box together.  Be sure to dry fit the box before starting to adhere with the photo tape.

 

When assembling, this is what I do - Bring the front of the box up and adhere the small flaps to the inside of the long flaps.  Then bring the back of the box up and adhere the long flaps inside the back flaps.  Clear as mud?  Its really easy when your are doing it!!  Believe me!!

 

Cover where your ribbon joins with your fancy Labels 9 Happy Birthday tag.  Stamp the Dusty the Seahorse image onto Watercolor paper.  Using the Aquapainter, color the seahorse image.  Carefully cut out the image and glue into place using 3D foam squares.

Here is my card for Sunday's Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.

Don't you just love Dusty the Seahorse?  This is a new release from DRS Designs.  I just love it, so cute!  I decided to put aside my copic markers and get out my aquapainter.  I used Baja Breeze & Mellow Moss reinkers on watercolor paper to get these colors.  I think using my aquapainter is so much fun!  I did use a copic marker for his tongue but you really shouldn't use copics on watercolor paper.

I used the new Ribbon Tag Trio 2 for the sentiment.  I stamped the Dusty onto watercolor paper using black Stazon.  After watercoloring, I cut them out and mounted them onto dimensionals.  The glittery paper is so much prettier in real life.  Its called Aquamarine Glitter by The Robin's Nest.  I stamped the seahorse using Baja Breeze ink onto Baja Breeze cardstock and then used my Ric Rac Scallop Piercability to get that wavy detail on the bottom.  Remember I showed you how to do this on Saturday in my blog frenzy post below!

For this project, you will need the following supplies:

• S4-233 Labels Nine Die Templates
• I2-1004 Flowers Impressabilities
• S4-166 Ric Rac Scalloped Pierceabilities
• Black Magic Cardstock by Core'dinations
• White & Yellow Cardstock
• Transparency Film or Acetate sheet
• Adhesive - I used Vellum E-Z runner, E-Z Squares & Black 3d foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
• Thoughtful Messages Clear Stamp set by Hero Arts
• Black Chalk Ink Pad by Colorbox
• yellow ribbon
• sanding block
• copper beads

 To make this shaker card, you will need S4-233 Labels Nine #4 & 6 die templates. To determine which die is which, begin with the smallest as #1, the next size as #2 and so on. 

See how I placed the die templates?  The outside S4-233 Labels Nine die template has the points on the top and bottom and the inside S4-233 Labels Nine die template has the points on each side.

I chose a black/yellow piece of cardstock from the Black Magic Collection by Core'dinations.  Place this paper black side down on the S4-233 Labels Nine die templates and feed into the Wizard to cut/emboss.

This is what they should look like.

 

You will also need to cut/emboss one #6 S4-233 Labels Nine die template out of black cardstock and one #5 S4-233 Labels Nine die template out of white cardstock.  Stamp your sentiment onto the white die cut using a black ink pad.

 Now you should have these pieces to assemble your shaker:

 

 

Now place the large black S4-233 Labels Nine die template with the sentiment attached on top of the frame being sure to line up the points of  S4-233 Labels Nine die template.

To complete this card, emboss the I2-1004 Impressabilities Flowers in your Wizard onto a 4 3/4 x 3 1/2"  piece of white cardstock and then a 4 3/4 x  2 1/4" piece of the Core'dinations black/yellow.  The yellow side of the cardstock should be facing the I2-1004 Impressabilities Flowers template.  Sand the black paper to reveal the yellow core.

 

To get that great scalloped detail at the bottom of your yellow & black cardstocks you will need the S4-166 Ric Rac Scalloped Pierceabilities #1 Die Template (the one with the heart in the middle!).  I cut the yellow piece of cardstock at 5 X 5 1/4".  After cutting the scalloped detail, your yellow cardstock should measure 5 x 5".

For my second project, I made a box with a “window”!  

I made a small gift box with a “window” cut from the Labels 9 die template.  Then I decorated the window.  I made a matching card and envelope for the project. Come back right here on July 27 ~ or subscribe to my blog~ for a tutorial on how to make this great project!

I have a project to share with you that I made for Clearsnap.  Clearsnap is a cross promotional partner with Spellbinders.  The Design Team received some great products from Clearsnap and we all made some projects for the company's CHA booth.  Here is one of my projects!

Hope you had a great weekend!  Now its onto another Monday Challenge on the DRS Designs Blog.  This Monday challenge is to make a Genie Bag!  You know how much I like those!!  If you aren't sure how to make one, HERE is a link to a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers.

 
For my Genie Bag, I used some new DRS Designs images that were released just a couple of weeks ago.  For the background, I used Design Dots .  I embossed the image using Versamark and White Embossing powder onto pink cardstock.  Then I embossed the Swirling Dots Butterfly onto pink cardstock and cut it out. Using an In Spades Pendant from Spellbinders, I cut/embossed some White Cardstock and mounted my embossed butterfly using some foam dots.  Here is a close-up of that:

  

I tied some ribbon thru my pendant and attached my cardstock to my bag.  I added some pink tissue paper inside.  Now its ready for that special little gift for someone!

This is such a quick and easy way to make a gift bag!  If you have never tried to make a Genie Bag, this is the perfect time to start!  Be sure to link back to the DRS Designs Blog so we can all see what you have made!  Come on - its fun!!

Christmas in July!

Sorry I haven't posted much lately.  I have been swamped with Design Team work.  As you have read, the Spellbinders CHA Blog Frenzy started today (check out the link for more info!).  So I have been getting ready for that along with my regular Design Team projects!  Fun but lots of stuff to do!!

I took the time to particpate in the Ways To Use It Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers today.  It was good to stamp just for fun!  The challenge was to make a project for Christmas!  Here is my project:

I used the Dazzling Diamond Dust technique again for this card.  I like using that technique for Christmas Cards because none of the glitter will fall off into the envelope or all over the person you sent it too.    This post is going to be short and sweet!  Be sure to particpate in the Spellbinders Blog Frenzy.  You can win some great stuff!!

Beautiful You!

Here is a card I made a few weeks back and haven't shared with you!  I used the NEW In Spades Borderabilities for the side detail

I just love the Borderabilities line by Spellbinders.  Remember all those punches you have purchased to do the same thing?  Well, Borderabilities take up very little space and have much more detail! There is also the added bonus of using the Borderabilities die template as a stencil, which I did for this card.  This is the In Spades Borderabilities, just released this week!  After I cut and embossed some Cardstock weight vellum, I left the die in place and used my Copic Airbrush System.  I then stamped the flower image using Versamark.  I used some Heat & Stick powder and Clearsnap Winter Frost Glitter.   I did the same around the outside edge of the Labels 4 Nestabilities die.  Then I added some ribbon and I am done!  Super easy and looks pretty good, even if I do say so myself!!
