A Sketch challenge using JustRite Stamps.....

I used the Harmony Classic Oval Stamper II for this card.  I used the card sketch for this week and you can find the sketch challenge HERE.  This post is going to be short and sweet.  I am busy, busy, busy working on my design team projects for Spellbinders!  I will post again soon!

Do you remember Masking?

I wanted to make Cassie a card for her First Communion.  The other card I made was for her grandparents to give to her!  I had this great DRS Designs stamp but didn't want the words for this particular occasion.  So a little masking was in order.

This is what I did to the stamp:
Using the sticky part of a post-it note, I covered up the words.  Then I inked up the stamp, removed my mask and stamped it onto my cardstock.

After stamp it, I cut/embossed the image using my Labels 3 Nestabilities.  I kept the image in the die and airbrushed it using a pale yellow Copic marker and then colored in the flowers and grass.

Here is my finished card!

What's VSN?

It's Virtual Stamp Night!  Over at Splitcoast Stampers they are hosting a "mini" Virtual Stamp night today/tonight.  Usually Virtual Stamp Night is a whole weekend kinda thing but the Minis are usually just one day to get you excited for the whole weekend.  The theme this time is Vegas!  If you would like to participate, just check out this thread.  Everything you make must be uploaded to the gallery by 10 pm Eastern Monday night.  You could win a prize, too!

I will be participating as much as possible because its just really fun.  Remember how to stamp for FUN?  Its a good thing!!  (Think a Martha Stewart voice when reading that last line, LOL)

Flower Soft is pretty cool!

So one of the cross promotion products I got on my Spellbinders Retreat was Flower Soft.  The company was very generous.  Today I sat down and watched the DVD that came with the Flower Soft kit.  I decided to give it a try on today's Ways To Use It Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers.

Here is my card:

The challenge today was to use white cardstock only.  You could ink it, sponge it or whatever but it had to be white!  Kinda hard actually!  I used the Butterfly Impressabilities  for my background.  Then I cut and embossed using a Label 3 Nestabilities (S4-189) and stamped my sentiment (from Verve) using Citrine Colorbox cat-eye ink pad.  I cut and embossed using the Butterfly Reflections (S3-038) and then stencilled using my Copic Air Brush system.  When I popped my butterfly out of the die, I airbrushed a littler color over the whole butterfly.  Be careful when doing this cause ink gets on the fingers! LOL  I had made up my Flower Soft stems last night because they need time to dry.  I followed the directions on the DVD for making that little cone out of Vellum and then glued the cone with the flowers in place using the Flower Soft glue.  The ribbon is white satin from Paper Trey Ink. 

This was a fun card to make!  I like Flower Soft.  While it may take just alittle extra time, its worth it for the results!  Check out Flower Soft website!

Back to creating....hopefully!!

Well, now that the Spellbinders retreat is over and I have organized most of my stuff (mostly), its time to get back to creating stuff!  Hoping to kick start that process, I checked out today's Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers.  Here is my card using the sketch:

For this card I used Cosmo Cricket - Girl Friday patterned paper.  This is some of the great Cross-Promotion stuff I got at my retreat.  So cute!!

I cut out and embossed the Long Classic & Scalloped Rectangles-small  (S4-144 & S4-145) using the Cosmo Cricket paper and Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  For the bottom rectangles I used the Classic & Scalloped Rectangles Large (S4-133 & S4-132), using the same cardstock & patterned paper as above.

I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts using some VersaMagic Sea Breeze chalk ink.  I have had these little ink pads for along time but decided to use them today. 

I cut out Barely Banana, Pumpkin Pie & Baja Breeze flowers using the Flower Creations (S4-072) Shapeabilities.  I put the flowers together using Glue Dots and adhered them on using foam dots to give them some pop.  The pretty ribbon is from Creative Impressions.  I have this huge bag full of ribbon, brads, clips and other embellishments from Creative Impressions that I need to organize.  I will love it once its organized but I hate organizing it! LOL 

I will probably use this card as a Thank You to all those great companies that were so generous with the Spellbinders Design Team.  Hope you are having a great week!

Copic Certified!

Look at this!

That's right, I am a Copic Certified Designer.  I will say that before I share my knowledge with anyone, I need to practice some more.  I love the markers and the airbrush system is so cool.  What fun!

This is Marianne Walker and I after the class.  You should check out her blog about all things Copic and art - I Like Markers.  I had already been checking out her blog to get help with Copics but to meet her and take the certification class was just fantastic!  Thanks to Spellbinders & Marianne!  It was great!  Can't wait to start practicing!

Can you believe it?

Here is a picture of my goodies that I got on my Spellbinders Design Team Retreat.  There is so much stuff to play with and I can't wait.  Of course, this is just what I could fit into my luggage.  There is another box of stuff being shipped.  Hopefully I will get it this week!  That pouch in front is a whole bunch of Flower Soft!  I think it may be the whole line!  Plus we got a bunch of Just Rite Stampers, Taylored Expressions, Crafty Secrets, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Copic Markers & Copic Airbrush System, Clearsnap inks, glitter and the new Smooch; plus a whole bunch of cardstock from Core'dinations, Magic Mesh, Hero Arts stamps, Stampers Anonymous, Cosmo Cricket, Crate paper, Upsy Daisy Designs and so much more. 

I can't believe how wonderful everyone from Spellbinders has been.  Stacey, Kim, Cathy, Eli and the rest of the team made all of us feel like queens!  It was just wonderful!

Right now, my craft room looks like a tornado hit it so I am off to get busy organizing and putting stuff away.  I will share close ups of more stuff later this week.  Hopefully, I will be able to participate in the challenges but I don't know.  Talk to you soon.

It's a thing of beauty!!!!

I'm too tired to say anything more!  LOL  This is my new Wizard!  I have a bunch more goodies to show you this week but right now I am off to spend time with the family, take a nice long shower and sleep in my own bed.  I had a fantastic time, love all the talented women on the Spellbinders Design team and super happy to be picked by such a wonderful lady as Stacey!

For someone very special in my life.....

Here is a card I made for someone who is very special in my life - my step-dad - Larry.  Larry married my mom when I was 8 - almost 33 years ago.  I needed a special card to give him and this fit!!

I used DRS Design images for this special card.  I have to say no other stamp company has the sentiments that DRS Designs has.  They have just about every sentiment you could ever want and then some!  I used the I used the Father of My Heart (D876) sentiment and Shelldon the Turtle (F720).    I used the last little bit of Summer Picnic DSP I had.  I thought these colors fit really well.  Masculine yet Shelldon the turtle still looks good!!

Supplies Used:  Images from DRS Designs; Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue & Whisper White cardstock; Black Staz-on ink pad; SU Markers; Top Note Die, Rectangle Nestabilities, Blue striped ribbon.

Experiments with Graphic 45 paper

So here are some cards I made today using the Graphic 45 patterned cardstock I got from Eclectic Paperie.  I really like the paper but it is a different style!

Here is a card for today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast!

You can find this week's sketch challenge HERE.  I used a sentiment and background stamp from Verve.  The Graphic 45 paper is called Times Nouveau collection.  I really like it.  This is the front and back of one sheet.  The cherries where cut from the paper, too.  The base of my card is Not Quite Navy.  I stamped the background image using Not Quite Navy, too.  I used the Eyelet edge punch on some Very Vanilla for the edge and layered my sentiment onto a piece of Riding Hood red.  Those are Rich Regals brads (from a long time ago) and that is Soft Sky ribbon.

Here is another card I made using the same sheet of Graphic 45 paper.  Its for Viva La Verve April - Week 1.

There is a sketch to follow with a twist.  The twist for this sketch is to just use a sentiment.  Kinda hard because I kept wanting to stamp that Riding Hood Red panel with something!!  I used the same colors as the first card.  That twill tape is from Basic Grey.   I thought these cards would go great together as a set.  I think I have enough of this paper left to make 2 more cards, if I am careful!!
